The singer-songwriter and celebrated Hollywood actress's story begins during the birth of her son August in February with husband and musician Taylor Goldsmith. The couple appeared on the Informed Pregnancy Podcast and opened up about the many challenges they faced.

Their story, like most do, started out normal as her husband shared that he, like most expecting fathers, attended Lamaze classes in preparation. And then Moore chimed in, rating her labor experience as crazy. She likened labor to being on a wild acid trip where nothing felt real.

Mandy Moore's Somewhat Relatable Birth Story

Mandy thought she was prepared, but boy oh boy was she wrong

Mandy began opening up about how it felt so surprising to realize that she can still talk to and hear the people around her while giving birth and everything they said to her she could hear and understand, but it wasn't the same. She said she felt like she was all alone. She said the only thing she could do was close her eyes and focus on herself and everyone around her, at that moment, was just in the background.

Original Birth Plan Suddenly Changes

The couple's initial plan was to have the baby at home inside their tub with a glass of wine. A very nice thought. However, she soon realized that that would not happen as she was incredibly uncomfortable in the tub. A few hours later, at roughly 3 am, the pop star and her family finally decided to go to the hospital as things were getting serious.

At that time Mandy felt that she had no choice but to go to the hospital and endure a 40-minute car ride through the bumpy Los Angeles streets and she said that she could feel every bump in the road and that it was excruciating.

Mandy Shares Why She Chose the Name August

Mandy explined on the podcast that it was in fact in August when she and the hubby found out that they were expecting a baby. On top of that, her husband, Taylor, was also born in August, and Mandy quickly fell in love with the name. Moore continued to share a notion that she had that is probably the most similar feeling that of almost every mother and their experience after giving birth. She said that after seeing and holding newly born August, it was at that time when she felt the most love she has ever felt in her life, sorry Taylor. Mandy went on to say that she can't wait to have another child.

We are not expecting another wild birth story because I'm sure she will be a little better prepared for the next baby or at least she will know what to expect when expecting.
