Gigi Hadid is making one personal request from the paparazzi and the press, who love to follow the supermodel and her family. She wants these celebrity photographers to blur the image of her baby daughter to protect the child's privacy if they circulate or publish their photos.
In an Instagram Story, Gigi Hadid explained that Khai, her 9-month-old baby with singer Zayn Malik, is growing up so fast, and she realized that they soon wouldn't be able to shield her from the public compared to when she was just an infant. The supermodel also said that her daughter loves "seeing the world," making it more challenging for her and Malik to keep Khai from the public's prying eyes.
Hadid explained that her baby girl will not yet understand why the paparazzi would take her photos. So, she wrote an open letter to the press, feeling that it was necessary to address the "media circus that comes with parents who are public figures."
The letter was also addressed to the fans who might spot Hadid and Malik with Khai and attempt to take photos to share on social media.
"If you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera," Hadid wrote.
Wanting the Best for Khai
Hadid said that as a new mother, she only wants the best for her baby. In keeping her daughter's life private, the supermodel said that she and Malik have avoided showing Khai's face on social media, where they frequently share baby photos. The new mom also believes that the baby's privacy should be an important discussion even among families who are not public figures.
The 26-year-old runway star welcomed Khai with her partner in September on a farm in Pennsylvania after 14 hours of labor. Reports cited that Hadid planned on giving birth in New York City but decided to pursue a home birth after watching a documentary about having a baby in the time of COVID-19.
In keeping with her desire to give her daughter only the best, Hadid got on board the idea of home birth, surrounded by her mother and sister, Yolanda and Bella Hadid, and the closest people in her life, after learning that this was the most natural thing for women to experience.
She told Vogue in its February 2021 issue that giving birth might be the "craziest pain" she has been through, but she loved the idea of surrendering to the process with her loved ones ready to welcome Khai as well.
Gushing About Motherhood
In another interview, Hadid gushed about enjoying the basic and most simple things as a mother. She said that it's wonderful to learn something new every day from raising Khai with Malik.

Hadid also showed the permanent tribute she and her partner made for Khai, a permanent tattoo on their arms bearing their daughter's name in Arabic. Like any mother, the supermodel said that she sees her daughter as the "most genius thing that's ever been born."
