Drew Barrymore has been working in Hollywood since she could barely talk. Now, the 40-year-old actress reveals that she's taking a break from acting to spend more time with family as her kids are growing up.
"My whole universe revolves around my children, and the hours keep me away from them too much," the actress said via the U.K. news daily The Times. The actress is married to Will Kopelman. Together they have two daughters: a three-year-old, Olive, and a 17-month old, Frankie.
However, the actress clarified that she will not be completely out of the limelight. She will only be picky with roles while her daughters are still young.
"By no means am I abandoning acting," she said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Nor am I pretending that I don't love acting, but I cannot do it right now, with my children."
"Any acting roles will be few and far between until my kids are older and by then, who knows what I'll want to do?" the actress added, according to Digital Spy.
Drew will still be seen in the movie "Miss You Already," which she stars with Australian actress Toni Collette, and the two are making the rounds promoting the comedy-drama, which opens in November 6, according to EW. The news outlet also said that Drew has been thinking of taking a break long before the project for "Miss You Already" came up.
"I was furious that I liked it so much," she said.
Meanwhile, one of Drew's daughter celebrated her birthday over the weekend, and the mom was on hand, making sure that Olive would have the best birthday. She posted a photo of the "radest" cake for her three-year-old on her Instagram account.
"My daughter wanted a tiger cake for her birthday. I just had no idea it would be the radest and most hilarious tiger cake on the planet," Drew wrote. "Happy birthday to one of my two daughters, who are simply put, my whole universe. There is no end to my love for them. Three years old. Best three years of my life. #birthdaygirl #tigercake #crazybirthdaycakes," she further wrote.
Apart from her kids keeping her busy, Drew is also splitting her time with her cosmetics, fragrance and accessories line, Flower Beauty. The newly launched venture features a collection of makeup, perfumes and sunglasses to start with, but the actress said that her small company is up for expansion, according to People.
