Shakira is one of this millennium's successful international Latina music artists, but she has yet to let her sons, Milan, 8, and Sasha, 5, know of her massive popularity. The mother admitted that she doesn't let her boys listen to her music at home.
In an interview with ET Canada, Shakira said that she and the boys' father, Gerard Pique, try to make their home life as normal as possible despite her celebrity status. Pique is also equally famous as a football star with FC Barcelona.
Although Shakira said that they could not escape their lives as public people, she and her longtime partner strive to make life simpler with their sons.
Shakira has an active presence on social media, where she sometimes shares photos of her family. At the height of lockdowns in the past year, Shakira shared that she has been taking online classes in Philosophy in between watching the boys' favorite shows.

In 2017, the Colombian singer told Hola Magazine that her life and priorities changed when she had children. The mother realized that she faces the same challenges as every parent whose energy must be divided between family and career.
A Balancing Act
Despite slowing down to raise her boys with her partner, Shakira has managed to balance her time between work and family in the last few years. When she needed to travel for work, she constantly communicated with her boys through digital technology. When the supermom isn't working, she's also comfortable tending to chores at home.
However, as a mother, her kids will always come first. When her youngest got sick in the middle of her tour in 2016, Shakira decided to cancel at least two shows to look after Sasha.
At home with her children, Shakira enjoys reading to her boys and loves the fact that Milan and Sasha are quite curious. The singer said that she feels she has a bit of a "Tiger Mom" streak because she likes teaching her boys. She teaches her sons to value education and tries to find ways to stimulate their minds.
Inspired with New Music
Meanwhile, Shakira's new EDM track, "Don't Wait Up", debuted at the top of the Billboard charts on July 16. The new song comes after the Latina pop star released "Me Gusta" more than a year ago. The single is her first new English track since 2017.
Shakira told Billboard that she feels the nerves because she hasn't released an English song in a while and has been working with Spanish music for some time. However, she's happy that the song is now out because she's very much inspired to work on new music.
The mom has been promoting her new song on social media and appearing at various virtual interviews. Shakira has been staying in Barcelona with her family since the pandemic. She has been in a relationship with Piqué since 2011.
