Problems regarding the filming of "Fast and Furious 8" surfaced in the news recently, as it was reported that the movie is having a hard time locking a director in, according to Screen Rant. Lead actor and producer Vin Diesel took to Facebook to finally address the issue. He also clarified what he really wants for the upcoming movies of the franchise.
In his Facebook post, Diesel said that the director job for "Furious 8" hasn't been offered to any person for now. "My producing partner Neal would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled," the actor wrote. However, the action star also added that the movie will indeed become part of a new trilogy, which will mark the "end of the saga."
"Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision... they have been like family... I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga," he further wrote.
As fans will recall "Fast & Furious 7" paved the way for a new team that kicked off a new storyline and a possible trilogy. Following this, news that the next installments would become part of a multi-picture deal surfaced, as reported by Deadline. But since the report, nothing has been said about the planned multiple picture deal.
However, Diesel's latest social media post seemed to confirm that a new trilogy is coming and that it will be the last of the franchise. Ultimately what this means is that "Furious 8" will be the first of three more final movies, with the last movie ending with "Fast & Furious 10," according to Comic Book. According to Cinema Blend, it may just as well be the case as the unexpected death of Paul Walker changed the "Fast and Furious" franchise completely, and perhaps the death will now become a realistic part of the story.
"The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world... Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been with me every step of the way... literally giving me feedback that proved invaluable. Thank you," Diesel also posted on his Facebook page, while hinting that the director for "Furious 8" will be announced in his next post.
As earlier announced, "Fast and Furious 8" is expected to be in theaters on April 2017, according to Entertainment Weekly.
