Like most Americans, Alec Baldwin celebrated Halloween with his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and their kids by going trick or treating and wearing costumes to mark the exciting occasion. However, the Baldwin family received criticism for observing Halloween traditions amid the fatal shooting investigations on the set of "Rust," which involved the actor.

Hilaria posted the images of their Halloween revelry on her Instagram and Twitter accounts. She said that she and Alec "rallied" together so their children could enjoy the holiday despite the family's "intense experience" in recent weeks. Hilaria was, of course, referring to Alec's accidental shooting on the set, which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.

The post showed Alec smiling for the cameras while dressed as a creature from "Where the Wild Things Are." The images became the subject of debates from observers who said that while it might seem strange for the actor to be having fun despite the shooting days ago, Alec and Hilaria could be trying to get their life back to normal.

Over at Twitter, Hilaria's followers also didn't think it was right for her to post their Halloween photos. However, some defended that the Baldwins have young children who should not be denied the celebration as "life still has to continue."

Alec and Baldwin have been married since 2012, have six children together: Carmen, 8, Rafael, 6, Leonardo, 5, Romero, 3, Eduardo, 1, and twins born via surrogacy, Maria Lucia and Victoria, eight months.

Ireland Baldwin Faces Backlash, Too

Ireland Baldwin, Alec's eldest daughter with first wife Kim Basinger, also drew some criticisms online after posting her Halloween photos on Instagram. The 26-year-old model said that she and her boyfriend stayed in for Halloween because the paparazzi were waiting to get a snap.

However, some of her followers called her out for wearing a "tone-deaf" costume with fake blood on their schoolgirl and schoolboy costumes.

"A woman is dead and your dad cause it," one follower wrote in the comments, adding that Ireland should show some reverence for what happened.

Other fans didn't hesitate to call the Baldwin family "narcissists" for not showing empathy for Hutchins' son, who likely was not able to go trick or treating this year.

Authorities Haven't Asked Alec Baldwin Back Yet

Meanwhile, CNN reported that the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office has not yet asked the actor to return to New Mexico for the investigation into the "Rust" shooting. For now, Alec and his family remain in Vermont.

The actor said he has been in touch with the police every day since the Hutchins' accidental death and a source close to Alec confirmed that he is cooperative. However, a spokesperson from the sheriff's office said that they are keen on doing more follow-ups and interviews with the assistant director and the armorer on the set. Criminal charges have not yet been filed, but the police's attorney said they have not ruled out anything.
