Ryan Reynolds has chosen to pause his work in Hollywood for several months to spend more time with his three young daughters with wife Blake Lively. The famous star said that he does not want to lose significant moments with his girls, so he will not accept movie projects until the end of summer 2022.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds said that he wouldn't be able to "get that time back" with his family, so he is consciously creating "a little bit more space" to be with them. Reynolds' daughters with Lively -- James, 7, Inez, 5, and Betty, 2 -- are in those crucial stages of growth, where memories with their parents will mold their childhood.
In October, the "Red Notice" star announced on his social media pages that he completed his work for "Spirited," an upcoming Christmas musical movie, and stated that he would go on a hiatus from movie-making. However, Reynolds will not be entirely off the spotlight because he will still do the round of promotions for his remaining projects and endorsements.
'Three Daughters, Such a Ride!'
Reynolds grew up in a Canadian household as the youngest of four boys, so having three girls has been quite the experience. He told Access in 2020 that he loves every second of being a girl dad.
Reynolds and Lively have one simple parenting rule for their daughters: they don't spend a lot of time apart if they have to work on the set. Reynolds said he does not like splitting up the family if he or his wife has to shoot movies.
"We go travel all over the place and we just all go together," Reynolds revealed.
The actor also does not like talking about his children in public as he values their privacy, just like his wife. A few weeks ago, Lively blasted a fan for creating a disturbing social media account where there are paparazzi photos of their daughters. The actress told the fan to take down the pictures as it borders on exploitation.
During the 2021 Innovators Awards in New York, Reynold thanked his wife for being such a "renaissance woman" who has pushed him to improve himself. The "Deadpool" actor said that he tends to overwork and keep himself busy with his family, but it has sometimes affected his wellbeing. Thus, the break from filming should also help Reynolds to be more present and to fully embrace the moments he's currently experiencing. The actor said that he does not have to tick all the boxes for his life to be amazing.
Reynolds Invested in the Premier League
Meanwhile, in February, Reynolds became a part-owner of the Wrexham National League with co-actor and friend Rob McElhenne. The businessmen recently flew to the U.K. to watch their investment's very first game in person.
Wrexham is one of the oldest English football leagues, and Reynolds admitted that he's surprised how much they've become emotionally invested in this venture. Reynolds said that he's not an expert on English football, but he sees the beauty of the game as a fan. He and McElhenne will be working on the promotion of the club and its team in the coming months, beginning with the launch of the documentary about Wrexham's rich history.
