Floyd Mayweather Next Fight: Legend Says Boxer Isn't Retired, 50th Fight Looming?

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. already said that he's done with boxing. On Sept. 12, the boxer beat Andre Berto at a fight held in Las Vegas, in what would be his 49th win. As a result, he now matches the record of Rocky Marciano at 49-0, and the boxer declared that he's retiring.

"I feel like I was dealt a royal flush... I stayed with my team and was honest and loyal and was able to get the job done. I'm not breaking that 50-0. Don't worry about that," Mayweather said just days before his final fight, according to Boxing Junkie.

"I've accomplished everything, there's nothing else to accomplish. Money don't make me, I make money," the 38-year-old boxer also told sports journalist Bryan Armen Graham in an interview.

According to USA Today, the fight with Berto was the last in Mayweather's contract with Showtime, but despite this and the boxer's declarations, a few people still think it's not the end of Mayweather.

Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard is one of those convinced that Floyd will be back in the ring in no time, according to TMZ. The site went on to say that a rematch between Floyd and Manny Pacquiao is still possible, as Floyd "needs to go for 50."

On the other hand, Pacquiao declared that his shoulder has already healed and would be back in fighting form, and perhaps ready to face off with Mayweather again. The boxer acquired injury on this part of his body during his last match with Floyd in May.

But boxing trainer Ronnie Shields believes Mayweather's decision. "I just don't see him coming back at all because I don't see who he can fight in a comeback. I just don't see it and I don't see them even offering him enough money to make a return. As far as I'm concerned, I think he's retired for good," the coach said in an interview with On the Ropes Boxing.

Meanwhile, Mayweather has been hinting about retiring back in 2014. "I only got two more fights left (after Saturday) and after the next two fights I just want to build the Mayweather Promotions brand," the boxer told ESPN last year. "My next fight is in May and my last fight is in September, so a year from now will be my last fight."

In Mayweather's career, he attempted to retire from boxing twice. He briefly quit boxing after his fights with Oscar Dela Hoya and Ricky Hatton in 2007, only to come back to fight even more opponents, according to Bleacher Report.
