Mothers want only the best for their children, and that's what Beth Davis, a 61-year-old mom with cancer, is hoping for her 30-year-old daughter, Molly, as she placed a massive billboard ad at Times Square for a good man to be with her.

Betty is "meddling" in her daughter's love life because she has little time. Her doctors told her in June 2020 that her breast cancer had metastasized to her bones. Her treatments are likely to extend her life for another two years.

In an interview with the New York Post, Beth said she wants to see Molly well-settled before she dies. Because of her serious health issues, the urgency and desperation to find a good man to date her daughter was justified.

Molly Wants Her Mom to Have Fun

While other daughters might cringe at the thought of their mothers taking charge of their dating life, Molly is not about to shut down Beth's intention, despite the intrusion. She even helped Beth book the billboard ad, and they constantly looked at the responses they received together.

"I'm letting my mom have the fun," the 30-year-old said as the mom and daughter watched the billboard's debut at Times Square over the weekend.

Beth relayed that she and Molly jumped when they saw the ad. "Most people get 15 minutes of fame, but we are getting a whole month!"

Beth used Molly's Wingman dating profile for the billboard ad, including testimonies from friends and family members. The pitch emphasized how much Beth wants her daughter to find a "good man" who will love and take good care of her.

Beth also has a son who has gotten married, so she has focused on helping her adult daughter find her happiness. She figured that Molly deserved the billboard for sacrificing much of her time taking care of her mom. Beth has been battling cancer since 2004.

The pair also got help from Tina Wilson, the founder of the dating app. Molly said that the stunt has allowed her profile to reach a "wider net" where she's hoping to match with someone who will adore her as much as she will adore him.

When Mom Plays the Matchmaker

Over at Reddit, young adults have discussed the highs and lows of their mom playing the matchmaker. One female Redditor said that wingman parents are very common in her Latina culture. A male Redditor agreed and said that he had seen parents nudging their daughters towards him during get-togethers.

A commenter said that her mom was brazen about approaching a bunch of firefighters to ask if they were single. She then dragged one guy towards her daughter, who was deeply embarrassed by her mom's actions, although she conceded that her mom picked a cute guy.

Another Redditor shared her story of the "wingmom." She said that she met her current boyfriend while serving his mom at the bar. The mom got a little drunk and started talking about her son. The next thing the Redditor did was to text the son to ask him to pick up his mom, and they've been in a relationship for some time since his mother's drunken night.
