Cristiano Ronaldo Movie: Initial Review Of Official Documentary [Details]

The trailer to a documentary movie featuring the life story of Cristiano Ronaldo, one of soccer's most famous players in current times, has been released.

Soccer star Ronaldo is going to have his life story shown on the big screen on Nov. 9. Mashable reports that the news about Ronaldo's movie was "met with eye-rolls by many soccer fans."

However, now that the trailer is out, the news outlet says that viewers should approach this film with an open mind, as it is compellingly good.

The movie's official website, www.ronaldothefilm.com, says that the movie has been filmed over 14 months, and shows wide, unprecedented access into Ronaldo's inner circle. The film is the "first official and fully authorised film" showing the life of one of today's most celebrated players.

The film includes "vividly candid and un-paralleled, behind-closed-doors access to the footballer, father, family-man and friend." It will do that by using "in-depth conversations, state of the art football footage and never before seen archival footage," to give an "astonishing insight into the sporting and personal life of triple Ballon D'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo at the peak of his career."

The documentary, according to Mashable, includes footages of Ronaldo as a child; his mom tearfully remembering his younger years; and Ronaldo's own personal memories. The documentary movie is directed by Anthony Wonke.

"It looks like we actually have a candid, humanizing portrait of one of the biggest stars in sports today — not simply a fluff piece met to further aggrandize a personal mega-brand," says the news outlet.

Vice Sports gives some of the highlights of the trailer to the movie, which is simply titled "Ronaldo," with the tagline "Astonishing. Intimate. Definitive."

At the start, Cristiano Ronaldo goes up out of the darkness and into the bright lights of the field while wild crowds chant his name.

Following that, a scene where Ronaldo, as a young boy, plays well. A voice says "he was so much better than everybody."

Next scene, Ronaldo is seen drinking with friends and he asks, "Tell me the best player in the world?" Which he quickly answers himself, while laughing: "Me!—Until January."

"Winning," Ronaldo said, "That's the most important to me. It's as simple as that."

Then what follows are scenes that detail his life: going away from his mom, not knowing his dad, being a good father, a good friend, and more.

Just watch the trailer and see for yourself.

"Ronaldo: ASTONISHING. INTIMATE. DEFINITIVE." will be released November 9.
