The comedy-drama series "Orange is the New Black" scored several nominations in the recently concluded Emmy Awards. In fact, Uzo Aduba won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award for the said show. No wonder, Netflix renewed the series for season 4.
"Orange Is The New Black" season 4 will still feature Laura Prepon's controversial character Alex Vause. However, there are speculations that fans no longer want Vause in the show, Realty Today reports.
In season 3, Alex was attacked by a group of people who she believes were associated with the other inmates at Linchfield prison. In the said encounter, she almost got killed but she survived and will seek the person behind the assault.
The report suggests that the "How I Met Your Mother" star confirmed her return in the award-winning show in a post on Instagram, where she was featured on her orange uniform. However, while Pepon is excited to get back on OITNB season 4, there are rumors that fans are not loving her character and want her dead.
According to Movie Pilot, "I am voting NO on Alex surviving the hitman. She has more than served her purpose on the show. Her ONLY relationship is with Piper, who has outgrown her intellectual world traveling ways."
Alex and Piper's (Taylor Schilling) make up and break up relationship has been damaged beyond repair and showing a possibility of forgiveness is insulting, the report suggests. That would mean that no matter how writers penned the two characters to reunite, at some point they will still part ways and fall apart. Moreover, "Alex is a downer, she has no social skills and isn't like able except maybe in some of the flashbacks."
According to the report, Alex is crucial in the first two seasons because by that time Piper still needs her. However, now that Piper has finally found herself, Alex has served her purpose.
For those who believe Alex should bid goodbye in the series, they will be disappointed with this report. According to TV Guide, Alex survived the attack in season 3 and now that she has confirmed that she is the target, she will return to Litchfield more cautious and vigilant. "I don't think you're going to see a more timid side of Alex," Prepon tells the publication. "If anything, she's justified in her paranoia. ... That empowers her, in my opinion."
For those wondering if Piper will still remain faithful to Alex, Prepon teases that the two characters will always have a connection. "I definitely think that if Alex needed her or she needed Alex, they would be there for each other completely."
