'Pitch Perfect 3' Release Date, Plot News: Movie Pushed Back To Aug 2017; Barden Bellas Sing-Off With Biggest Rival DSM Again? [Rumors]

Fans of the Barden Bellas will have to wait some more for the return of "Pitch Perfect." According to Deadline, Universal is pushing back the theater date of the movie's third installment.

"Pitch Perfect 3" was originally set to run in theaters on July 21, 2017, but the new date has now been moved to Aug. 4, 2017. The reason for the move is due to the delay of production for "Pacific Rim 2," and with the latter film on hold, the slot for Aug. 4 becomes unopposed. At the moment, "Pitch Perfect 3" isn't up against any major movies in its August release date, Deadline reported.

Plot details to the movie have not yet been revealed, but it was confirmed that many of its original stars are on board the third film. According to Ryan Seacrest, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Elizabeth Banks were the first to confirm their return, while Entertainment Weekly also reported that Brittany Snow will be in "Pitch Perfect 3." Fans may recall that in the last movie, their characters have already graduated from college.

The second movie featured a newcomer to the Barden Bellas in the person of young star Hailee Steinfeld, who played freshman Emily Junk. Just last August, the actress agreed to reprise her role, too, according to MTV News. "I can't wait! It's all happening," the actress excitedly said.

The first two "Pitch Perfect" movies were written by Kay Cannon, who will also be penning the third film. Banks will once again direct the third movie, with her husband Max Handelman serving as producer, according to E! Online.

Meanwhile, as excitement about "Pitch Perfect 3" is building up, fans are perhaps wondering if any of the other choir groups are also returning. One of these is the German techno group Das Sound Machine (DSM). In the movie, they were the Barden Bella's biggest rival.

"I hope very hard that Das Sound Machine shall return to Pitch Perfect 3, Pitch Perfect 3.14159, which I have called Pitch Perfect Pi, and all the other Pitch Perfects," said Pieter Krämer, the choir's breakout star, in his interview with Perez Hilton.

He already has some ideas about his appearance in the third film, should it happen. "Something would happen and we would be very sad, and then a song occurs, and then I ride around in a Jeep wearing only socks," he joked in the interview.

"Pitch Perfect" grossed $65,001,093 at the box office in 2012, according to Box Office Mojo. The second movie, released this year, earned $183,785,415, also according to Box Office Mojo.
