Eight-year-old Peyton Parker saved her mom's boyfriend with the Heimlich maneuver weeks after she learned the technique herself.

Peyton successfully dislodged a food lodged on Michael Langston's windpipe when he took a bite of a sandwich while leisurely playing video games, The Epoch Times reported.

According to Micheal, he took a bite of a sandwich, and he immediately started choking. He tried to wash it down, but he still found it hard to breathe.

He told Fox 13 that it spat right out when he tried to drink. He started panicking when he attempted to drink a lot of times but could not swallow it. He then realized that he could not breathe.

In the video footage, Michael was seen rushing out of the kitchen room to get Keegan, his girlfriend's six-year-old son.

Keegan tried patting his chest when he realized that Michael could not breathe. He called his sister for help.

A lesson on Heimlich Manuever weeks earlier

Before the New Year, Peyton watched her mother, Tabitha, a paramedic, do the Heimlich Maneuver to his brother, Keegan, to dislodge a piece of bacon from his windpipe.

According to Healthline.com, the Heimlich technique or abdominal thrust is a procedure where the diaphragm is lifted to expel air from the lungs, causing the foreign object to be expelled from the airway.

Choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional death.

That day, the paramedic mom thought that she should be teaching her daughter about life-saving techniques to know what to do in case someone was choking on their food.

Weeks later, Tabitha did not expect her daughter to perform the technique on her boyfriend, Micheal.

When her brother, Keegan, sought her help in dislodging the sandwich on Micheal's windpipe, Peyton jumped into action.

She wrapped her arms around Michael and thrust him twice before the food came out.

Peyton told Fox13 News, "I just jumped up and started doing it."

Her mom beamed with pride for her daughter.

Other life-saving techniques

When her mom got home from work, she said she immediately got ice cream. It's "something in order for," she told Fox13 smilingly.

She said she felt that Peyton might not have understood the gravity of what she did.

The mom was thankful that her daughter was there when she tried to do Heimliech manuever to her brother weeks earlier.

Micheal was also happy and thankful for what Peyton did.

He said that if it weren't for the quick action of the two kids, he would be dead. He said that the incident was "mind-blowing" and scary, but he is so proud of the kids.

The Parker mom now plans to teach her kids other live-saving techniques like CPR and encourages other parents to do the same to save a life.
