Kristina Ozturk, a 24-year-old mom, and husband, millionaire businessman Galip Ozturk, 57, both wanted to have a big family. Now, they are raising 20 babies born via surrogacy. The couple now spends $96,000 on 16 live-in nannies who work 24 hours caring for their kids.
Kristina met Galip when she visited Batumi in Georgia on her first-ever trip abroad. She was already a mom to Victoria then, now six. The couple later welcomed their first baby via surrogacy in March last year.
The couple said it was "love at first sight" when they met. She described her husband as mentor, guide, and fairytale prince all rolled into one," Crafty reported.
Dreaming of a big, happy family
Kristina said she dreamed of having a big family since childhood. She met her husband, who had the same dream. After they met, they started to put their dreams into action, that is, having 105 biological children.
Having children through surrogacy
They went to a surrogacy clinic and paid $191,000 or £138,000 to their various surrogates. Kristina said they originally wanted to have one baby a year, but they soon realized their bodies might not be able to keep up. They wanted to have as many children as possible, hence, the surrogacy option.
In an interview with the Sun, Kristina said that the surrogacy clinic in Batumi chooses surrogacy mothers for them and takes responsibility for the process. She said she is not personally acquainted with the surrogate mothers and does not have direct contact with them to avoid problems after pregnancy.
All of the couple's potential surrogates go through counseling. The surrogate moms are also asked to sign legal paperwork once they get pregnant. The genetic material is from Kristina and her husband.
Only young women who have had one pregnancy are chosen, and thorough checks are done to ensure that they do not have any bad habits.
The family in numbers
To accommodate their 22 babies and 16 nannies, the family lives in a three-story home. Kristina said that essentials for the kids cost $4,844 to $5,813 every week. But sometimes, the costs get more expensive.
The 16 nannies, on the other hand, are paid $484 a week, spending around £67k a year for nanny salaries.
The family spends 20 large packages of nappies and 53 packs of baby formula. The family also spends £4k a week on essentials for the babies.
The nannies work live-in for four days, two days off, with bedrooms near the kids. They also have a kitchen where they can order food.
Despite opting for surrogacy to expand their family quickly, Kristina said she does not close her door to having kids naturally.
She said she would plan her pregnancy, but not straight away because he needed to be close to the babies. She added that it would be challenging to be a mum to 21 kids when pregnant.
