Michael Cera has revealed more details about his newborn baby after Amy Schumer accidentally let slip that he is a new father. The 33-year-old Hollywood actor told US TV show Extra on Monday, March 7, about his son, saying, "He's just a little 6-month-old baby."
Cera had earlier told Entertainment Tonight that he and his wife Nadine are right at the beginning of this parenting thing, and they are "doing the very basics right now." Cera has been secretive about his relationship with his wife, whose surname has not been revealed. While the date of their wedding ceremony is unknown, the Superbad star has been seen wearing a gold wedding band on his left hand since the early part of 2017.
Cera and Schumer were promoting their new show Life & Beth when the Hollywood actress inadvertently dropped the big secret during an interview on live TV. Schumer surprised Cera by saying, "Michael has a baby, too. Is that public knowledge? I just outed him. I just outed his baby."
Cera has a strong appreciation for women after watching Schumer's documentary
All is well between the two stars, who became close during the filming of their new show. Cera has seen Schumer's work before, saying he watched her July 2020 documentary "Expecting Amy," which chronicled the comedian's pregnancy.
Cera said that Schumer's documentary helped give him more insight into a woman's pregnancy journey, saying he was just shocked while watching it. Cera added that as a distant outsider, he had a "very strong appreciation" for what Schumer and other women had gone through while carrying a baby.
Cera may be reluctant to share details about his private life with the media, but that is not the case for Schumer, who has been outspoken about her pregnancy struggles. Schumer said in a recent interview that she felt so wronged by her lack of knowledge about pregnancy and how difficult it was.
Amy Schumer shares struggles with her own pregnancy
Schumer said, "I didn't know how hard pregnancy was. I mean, I had a specifically difficult pregnancy because of having hyperemesis and endometriosis, but pregnancy is so hard." Schumer added that she feels like the imagery and the portrayals of pregnancy that she had seen and what she knew to be right was just so false.
Schumer has been married to Chris Fischer since February 2018, one year after dating. Schumer and Fischer welcomed their baby boy in May 2019, much to the relief of the 40-year-old actress, who suffered extreme difficulties during her pregnancy.
Schumer dealt with hyperemesis gravidarum while pregnant with her son Gene, a condition characterized by extreme morning sickness. She talked about it on social media platform Instagram in 2019, telling her followers, "I am in my third trimester, and I am still nauseous all the time and vomiting."
