Rupert Grint, one of the stars of the popular movie franchise "Harry Potter," has introduced his one-year-old daughter, Wednesday, into the wizarding world that made him famous.
The 33-year-old new dad revealed, during a guest appearance on Jimmy Fallon's late-night show, that Wednesday has seen the "Harry Potter" trailers and has been gifted a magic wand by his parents. He also said that his baby has a PEZ dispenser with the head of Grint's famous character, Ron Weasley. Grint played the character for almost ten years alongside co-stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger).
The proud dad further shared that his daughter has also started speaking and has "got opinions." It amuses the young dad that Wednesday utters the F-word.
Grint and his wife, Georgia Groome, welcomed Wednesday in May 2020.
Wednesday Joins Her Dad at Work
The actor is currently working on the set of "Servant," an Apple TV+ series. Grint said that his daughter spends a lot of time with him on the set, which is probably where she picked up the F-word. Grint explained that his character on "Servant" says the cuss word a lot, and now his daughter just blurts it out, especially when she's excited.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the new dad shared that he loves bringing Wednesday to his workplace. During her first visit, Wednesday thought that they were on "Sesame Street" as "Servant" takes place in a Philadelphia neighborhood.
Grint also said that he relishes his new experiences as a father. He admits that the focus on Wednesday has taken over his life.
When Wednesday was born, Grint revealed that he quit smoking straight away. He described himself as a "horrific insomniac" before becoming a father, but he's now sleeping a lot better, except when he has to look after Wednesday.
He shared that one of the first nerve-wracking experiences he went through as a father was during the first few weeks of having Wednesday home. He had this nagging fear that she would stop breathing because he had heard stories of babies dying in their sleep as a child.
The father also shared that he and his wife named their daughter after the character on "The Addams Family." Grint said he has always loved the name Wednesday because it sounded "memorable" and "strong."
Who is Georgia Groome?
Groome is a British actress and has worked in the movie "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" and the comedy series "Up the Woman." Her relationship with Grint started in 2011, just as he was wrapping up his final "Harry Potter" movie.
The pair succeeded in keeping their romance private and hardly did interviews about their relationship despite being chased by the paparazzi. Reports cited, however, that their romance was on and off.
In 2020, however, their fans were thrilled to learn that they were expecting their first child together. It's unclear when the couple officially got married.
