TV star Meghan King recently took to Instagram to vent her frustrations in parenting a child with cerebral palsy. The 37-year-old influencer blogger wrote that it was the second day in-a-row that she had to pick her three-year-old son, Hart, for "poor behavior" in school, US Magazine reported.

Her son was diagnosed with hypotonic cerebral palsy in October 2020.

The "Real Housewives of the Orange County" also posted a selfie of her crying in the car while Hart was in the back. King admitted that her son's cerebral palsy is "daunting."

The challenges of having a child with cerebral palsy

In her lengthy post, Meghan said that she does not like being defined as a mother of a child with cerebral palsy. She has focused on how great her son is doing while also paying her two other children attention. However, she admits that Hart's condition affects their daily lives.

She admitted that when she had to pick her son for two days in-a-row for "poor behavior" in class, she was unable to work, leaving her "feeling frustrated and helpless for both of us."

She then wondered and worried if her son's environment was too inconsistent? Is Hart not getting enough attention? How should she balance Hart's needs with the other requirements of the household?

She admits that the unknown is "daunting."

King confirmed her son's cerebral palsy condition in October 2020 after announcing that her son has periventricular leukomalacia condition, a kind of brain injury that impacts premature infants.

Hypotonic cerebral palsy

According to The Cerebral Palsy Guide, hypotonic cerebral palsy is a development disorder that impacts motor function. This condition is rare and is caused by brain damage before, during, or shortly after childbirth.

The condition is generally characterized by low muscle tone. Children are likely to miss important developmental milestones such as rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and walking as low muscle tone lacks strength and stability. A child with hypotonic cerebral palsy may also experience physical or neurological development impairments.

However, treatments are available for children with hypotonic cerebral palsy. The management and treatment help children lead a healthy, independent life.

Messages of support

The influential lifestyle blogger's followers sent love, support, and advice in the comment section, as per Page Six.

A netizen suggested that schools have services that may help her, like home health. She offered to call the Special Education service coordinator to help her.

A follower said her brother also had cerebral palsy and advised her to enroll Hart in special needs classes. She also encouraged her, saying that her mom was also a single mother and cared for her brother, so she believes King can do this. She encouraged King that she just needed to find what works. She also assured her that she would eventually figure it out; it would just take a bit of time. She also suggested using government resources.
