Talitha Hill, a mom from Salt Lake City, Utah, has created quite a following on TikTok as the "sex coach" who has been dishing out relationship and intimacy advice based on her own painful experiences with her ex-husband.
Hill, who is more popularly known as Dr. Stormy on the video-sharing platform, is sharing what she learned from her own marriage because many couples could lose the "lover phase and energy" later on. She said that she had a high sex drive as a wife but the actual sizzle with her ex-husband faded away, just like eighty-five percent of marriages.
She later found out that her husband was having an affair with a friend and confidante, who actually knew of the intimacy struggles in her marriage. The blindsiding and massive betrayal led to Hill's resolve to train and be certified as a sex and intimacy coach to help other couples going through the same problems, the New York Post reported.
Rediscovering Her Own Power
The 45-year-old mom said that her training helped not only recover from the trauma caused by her cheating husband and the betrayal of a friend. It allowed her to rediscover her power as a woman and a sexual being.
Hill said she is a sex coach for couples of all ages and wants to debunk notions that passion fades in a long-term relationship. She also doesn't believe that yearning for intimacy should be judged or shamed as she wants to normalize how couples can express the physical act of love without feeling any inhibitions.
One of her most popular TikTok videos, which has racked up hundreds of thousands of views, talks about the five questions to discuss with a partner. Hill said that couples can boost their intimacy if they have serious conversations about what they want from their partner.
Hill said that her TikTok account, which has more than 16,000 followers, has some trolls and attackers who openly tell the sex coach that she may have driven her ex-husband away because she's doesn't enjoy intimacy. However, Hill always corrects that misconception because her experience was the complete opposite.
Couples May Have Mismatched Sex Drives
According to Medical Today, many couples may not align when it comes to their physical needs and this can cause issues and dilemmas in their relationships. Mismatched sex drives, also known as sex drive discrepancy (SDD), are not unique to any couple.
Studies have shown that 34 percent of women might not be interested in physical intimacy at all while 70 percent of men long for the spontaneity of a physical connection. It's human nature for adults to feel their passion wax and wane as well because of several factors like hormonal imbalance, especially for pregnant and menopausal women, or the production of less testosterone in men as they get older. Others also lose their passion because of disorders like depression or general physical issues like stress and fatigue.
The experts said that couples who do not talk about these issues may lead to an unpleasant dynamic in their relationship. Thus, as Dr. Stormy suggested, partners must learn to be comfortable about discussing their intimate life with each other with understanding and without shame.
