Over the past few months, we’ve heard author George RR Martin address rumors and tease his writing progress for “Winds of Winter.” However, it hasn’t gone unnoticed that George along with the rest of his team have been quite silent over the past few weeks. Typically, silence is already a statement but what could it mean?
News Everyday reports that with no concrete updates and the “Game of Thrones” season 6 premiere looming, could it be that the book is delayed once again? “Winds of Winter” is the six installment of the highly popular “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, which has likewise inspired the hit HBO TV series, “Game of Thrones.”
The publication writes that there is speculation, “Martin's progress might have slowed down significantly over these past few months despite stating that the book is his number one priority.” However, while this scenario is entirely possible, with no official word on the release date from Martin’s camp, at this point, anything could still happen.
As an alternative, one could also hope that the silence means that the writer has already completed the book and could be in the process of being finalized. The publication explains, the team’s choice to remain mum could be a strategy to increase the mystery and hype. “Winds of Winter” Character Rumors The 67-year-old writer has teased fans previously during an recent interview that the book will have a “major twist” the readers will enjoy.
Yibada shares that this could have something to do with Stannis Baratheon. In the show, it was “suggested” his was killed by Brienne of Tarth but it wasn’t directly confirmed in the show’s footage. Likewise, rumors are also spreading regarding the fate of the young king Tommen Baratheon. iDigital times (via Yibada) suggest one of the likely killers of the young king, should he meet his demise in “Winds of Winter” would be at the hands of Daenerys as Jaime, Tommen’s uncle/ father, was the one who killed Daenerys’ father, Aerys II.
It has already been confirmed that the show has continued production without the sixth book. As it stands, the series followed the contents of “A Dance of Dragons” in its fifth season but without “Winds of Winter” it remains to be seen how HBO will play out or whether it will spoil the contents of the book.
The show will premiere on HBO on April 3, 2016.
