A Las Vegas mother has been sent to jail for child abuse and attempted murder after trying to suffocate her "evil baby" just hours after the home birth.

Ashley Hollingsworth, 23, had her daughter in a relative's home bathroom and appeared not to want the child as she left her on the toilet. However, an aunt and uncle intervened and managed to take the mom and child to the hospital.

However, Hollingsworth tried to suffocate the newborn at least two times on the way to the hospital because she thought her daughter was an "evil baby." Hollingsworth said that her baby reeked of an abnormal scent and sounded like she was grunting at her, per the Daily Mail.

Las Vegas Mom Has Medical Condition

The newborn is Hollingsworth's third child. Her other children are said to be with their father in California. Police records indicated that MountainView Hospital called for assistance after the mother tried to flee.

Two hours later, the police found Hollingsworth, but she was bleeding profusely. While the police determined that these were self-inflicted injuries, Hollingsworth said that someone beat her up with a rock, according to the New York Post.

On the other hand, the hospital personnel told the police that Hollingsworth was babbling about the prophecies and "other religious ideations" before she escaped. She also told the cops that "something evil" was inside her stomach, so she had to kill it.

The police then booked the Las Vegas mom for child abuse and attempted murder. Her mugshot showed her with large black eyes and some blood on her head.

The baby's father, and Hollingsworth's current partner, was with the mom and child during the transport to the hospital. He said that she refused to go to the hospital; thus, the baby was born at home. Doctors who examined the baby determined that she suffered some injuries.

Hollingsworth was diagnosed with a medical condition and had an arrest record in 2018. She told the police that she had not taken her medication during her pregnancy. The mother is expected to appear in court in the coming weeks and is in jail without bail.

Las Vegas Dad Whips Son Over TV Row

Meanwhile, a Las Vegas dad has been charged with killing his 5-year-old son because they fought about the TV. Gerald Oglesby, 33, apparently whipped General Sema'j Oglesby with a cellphone charger's electric cord. The father then gave his boy a shower but continued to beat him up with a final blow to his abdomen.

Gerald told the cops that he knew he struck his son too hard with the punch to the stomach after he vomited and then stopped breathing. The police said that the father tried to resuscitate his child and did not call 911 right away. He confessed that he feared getting help because he did not want to lose custody of his son, per The Sun.

The Las Vegas dad said that he had spanked General in the past for answering back to him. Gerald has previous police records of domestic battery.
