On Monday, the police scene outside of Orsolya Gaal's home in Queens was still active, two days after her body was found in a duffle bag about a half-mile away. The New York Daily News reported that Gaal's property on Juno Street in Forest Hills remained taped off with police monitoring the residence 24-7 as they try to piece together the horrific crime and determine who was behind it.
New details emerged with police sources stating that the suspect allegedly sent a haunting message to Gaal's husband, Howard Klein, after her death. The person who killed the 51-year-old woman told Klein, "Your whole family is next."
Gaal, a mother of two teenage boys, was stuffed in a duffle bag and was discovered near Metropolitan Avenue and Jackie Robinson Parkway, about half a mile from her home. The city medical examiner will soon determine Gaal's cause of death.
Suspect threatens Orsolya Gaal's husband with haunting message
Police sources told PIX11 News that the suspect messaged Gaal's husband, accusing the victim of sending him to jail years ago. The suspect then threatened to kill Klein's entire family if he called the police. Police sources said that the murder transpired while Klein and their eldest son were away on a trip.
Sources said they believed Gaal told her youngest son that she was going out to see a show on Friday night. They added that a man who New York police believed Gaal was familiar with met up with her at some point. That man is believed to have murdered the mom of two in her basement.
According to the police, the suspect then dragged Gaal's body out of her home in a duffle bag. He later dumped the body near Metropolitan Avenue and Jackie Robinson Parkway. A man who was walking his dog on Saturday morning discovered the bag and called the police.
Surveillance video captured someone appearing to drag a duffle bag on the street hours before the body was found. According to police officials, a trail of blood led them to Gaal's home on Juno Street. Police said that Gaal's younger son was brought in for questioning and has since been released. Police have not made any arrests yet as of Monday, with a motive behind Gaal's murder remaining unclear.
