A surrogate mom raised her surrogate baby for two years before he was able to meet his real parents and other siblings. Kristie Baysinger from Texas revealed to her TikTok followers that she took care of baby Alexander when his parents from Scotland couldn't fly to the U.S. due to the COVID lockdowns.
In the TikTok video, Baysinger explained that the real mom had three young kids that she couldn't leave behind as well before the baby's birth in November 2019. The situation became even more complicated when the paperwork got lost in the mail amid the restrictions and work shutdowns at the height of the pandemic, according to The Sun.
Scotland had a stricter COVID-19 travel ban between 2020 and 2021 so the surrogate mom was left with no choice but to take care of the surrogate baby until his family could fetch him. Baysinger and the real parents kept in touch using FaceTime.

More Hitches with the Surrogacy Arrangement
According to Daily Mail, Baysinger could not fly to the U.K. with the surrogate baby for all of their protection. Surrogacy might be legal in the country but the expenses must only cover anything pregnancy-related. Beyond these expenses, the parents could be in a real bind.
Baysinger also said that there were problems with Alexander's social security card, which was required for his U.S. passport so he could travel overseas. Apparently, his parents had to hire a lawyer to fix these issues, short of reapplying all over again.
The surrogate mom said that Alexander has bonded with her family and even refers to her as "mom." However, Baysinger said that his parents also miss him and it didn't occur to her that they will simply give up on the baby, according to Edinburgh Live.
In the end, however, Baysinger brought Alexander to China, their exchange place, to finally be with his mom and his siblings. Her older sister was also Baysinger's surrogate baby. She gave birth to him a year before she had Alexander.
Jemma McGowan Retires as Surrogate Mom
Some of her followers said that they are heartbroken for Alexander because the circumstances delayed his meeting with his real parents and he had to leave his surrogate family, the family he has known for his first two years. However, others said that Alexander is still lucky because Baysinger and her family took him in.
Despite missing out on bonding with his real family for two years, the surrogate mom said that Alexander has been adjusting well in Scotland. Baysinger checks up on him via FaceTime and said that she can really see he's there "where he belongs."
Meanwhile, in another TikTok video, Baysinger said that she is 42 years old and could be a grandmother at any moment since her oldest child is 22 years old. She said that her baby-having days have sold and that her body is done with surrogacy.
