Households using air fryers bought at Best Buy should check if their kitchen appliance is part of the Best Buy air fryers recall alert. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that the popular store sold over 770,000 Insignia air fryers in the U.S. and Canada, which could overheat and cause fire on properties or burn the skin.
Per the CPSC, around 635,000 of these Insignia air fryers were available in the U.S. and 137,000 have been sold on Canada's Best Buy shelves. The recall covers both analog and digital Insignia Air Fryers, as well Insignia Digital Air Fryer Ovens.
Consumers should check if the air fryer they have at home bears the model numbers NS-AF32DBK9, NS-AF50MBK9, NS-AF32MBK9, NS-AF53MSS0, NS-AF53DSS0, NS-AFO6DBK1, NS-AF55DBK9 and NS-AFO6DSS1. The model number may be found on the underside with the rating label.
These kitchen appliances were released with different cooking chamber capacities between 3.4 to 10 quarts and cost $30 to $150. They were designed in both plastic and plastic/stainless steel bodies with either a finish of black or stainless steel.
The items were sold in stores, in Best Buy's online shop, on eBay and via Google between November 2018 and February 2022.

Reported Fire or Burn Incidents with the Best Buy Air Fryers
The CPSC received 68 reports of fire damage, burning or melting accidents in the U.S. and 38 complaints in Canada. Seven of these incidents were minor injuries, including one leg injury involving a child.
The agency said that families should stop using the air fryer but there is no need to return the product at Best Buy. Instead, they may ask for a refund by calling the store at 800-566-7498.
Insignia has also set up a recall page, via Insignia Air Fryer Recall Expert Inquiry with instructions on how the customers could fast-track their refund. According to the appliance brand, they will replace this with an electronic card with an amount greater than what the consumer has paid for their original purchase.
For purchases above $50, it will help to have the receipt or a copy of the email confirmation of an online transaction through Best Buy. Consumers may also log into their My BestBuy account and take a screenshot of this particular purchase.
Walmart Recalls Ground Beef
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has also issued a recall alert for hamburger patties and frozen ground beef sold in bulk at 1,400 Walmart stores across 17 states for E. coli contamination. The department said that the pathogen may make the elderly very sick.
The ground beef came from Lakeside Refrigerated Services in New Jersey, which was found to be positive for the bacteria after a routine test. So far, there have been no reported incidents but the USDA does not advise cooking or eating this product as its test indicated a Class I contamination, meaning it may lead to death in vulnerable adults.
The products were sold with different brand names like Marketside, SEG, Weis, Thomas Farms, Nature's Reserve and Tajima from Feb. 1 to April 8, 2022. The packaging bears the "EST. 46841" USDA inspection mark. Consumers may return the item to the store for a replacement or a refund.
