Amber Heard claimed in her court testimony against Johnny Depp Thursday, May 5, that they fought over his daughter, Lily-Rose, whom she felt had to be protected because she was still underage.
The actress alluded that her ex-husband wasn't a good father to his child because he introduced marijuana to Lily-Rose at 14 years old. Heard also said she got into a serious argument with Depp when he allowed a music star, whom Lily-Rose liked, to sleep over in their house.
Heard said in her testimony that Depp got very upset with her when she protested about the music star, and she understood his reaction because it was not her place to intervene as she isn't the child's mom. However, she reasoned that she felt protective of his daughter because Lily-Rose was "so young," per Daily Mail.
Johnny Depp Hid His Alcoholism From Lily-Rose
Heard also claimed that Depp hid that he was drinking alcohol again. During a family vacation in the Bahamas, Heard said that Depp was putting alcohol in coffee cups so Lily-Rose and Jack wouldn't know.
The father was upset at that time because he had sold his yacht to J.K. Rowling, the author of the "Harry Potter" books. He got so drunk at one point that he scared Lily-Rose during a playful swim. The teenager thought her father got into an accident and had a panic attack.
Heard said that she led Lily-Rose into the cabin to comfort her. Depp followed them and "got very angry" at Heard because she called him "drunk" within the kids' earshot, according to the Insider.
But Heard denied that she said those words against Depp. Despite this, she got a warning from Depp, who threatened to kill her if she embarrassed him in front of his kids again. According to the actress, she and Lily-Rose left that Bahamas vacation earlier than planned.
The actress also recounted the physical and sexual abuse she experienced from her husband. Heard said that there were instances when she thought she was going to die.
Lily-Rose Reacts to Amber Heard
Lily-Rose, now in her early 20s, is Depp's daughter with his former partner, singer Vanessa Paradis. When her father's troubled marriage with Heard surfaced, Lily-Rose allegedly posted an Instagram statement in 2016, which she later deleted.
In that statement, the young model and actress said that Depp has "been nothing but a wonderful father" to her and her younger brother, Jack, per StyleCaster. Paradis also issued a statement to rally behind Depp and said he was never physically abusive to her in their 14 years of relationship.
Lily-Rose, however, has been tight-lipped about the ongoing trial.
Depp admitted that his ex-wife and daughter did not get along in his testimony before Heard. Lily-Rose couldn't even attend his father's wedding to Heard in 2015. Heard granted an interview with Marie Claire after the wedding and gushed over being a stepmother. She claimed it's an "honor and the greatest, most surprising gift" and that she's very happy to be with his children.
Heard will still be cross-examined by Depp's lawyers next. His team vows to expose the "lies" the actress told in court.
