Florence Ngwu, the Queens woman who was crushed between parked cars in a horror Mother's Day hit-and-run crash, died early Monday, her family told the New York Post. The 49-year-old was pinned right in front of her daughter in South Jamaica early Sunday, May 8, when an out-of-control stolen truck suddenly slammed into a car.
According to the victim's 29-year-old niece, Nnenna B, Ngwu died at Jamaica Hospital. The niece said that this is the third time and they were not able to revive her. She added that they are all just devastated with Ngwu's death and the family currently is in shock and grief.
The Mother's Day horror transpired around 8:30 a.m. when a Ford F-550 slammed into a vehicle while doing a U-turn at 167th Street and 120th Avenue. The truck's maneuver turned disastrous as the vehicle pinned the nurse with her daughter screaming in horror after the incident.
Suspect still being hunted by New York cops
The daughter can be heard in the footage of the crash screaming "Mommy! Mommy!" as her mother remained unconscious. Doctors had warned Ngwu's family that she might not survive her injuries.
She called the truck driver who fled the now-deadly crash inhumane. The cops were still hunting him on Monday, with the NYPD confirming that no arrests had been made in connection with the deadly crash.
Law enforcement officers are already hunting a person of interest, though, with detectives having a photo of the man they suspect stole the heavy truck that slammed into Ngwu. He left the victim mortally injured on the pavement outside her home on Sunday morning.
Ngwu, who was a mother of four and a nurse at an area nursing home, clung to life with massive head injuries until she passed away, according to the New York Daily News. Princess Ngwu, the victim's older daughter, is glad that police have identified her mother's suspected killer. She still cannot accept the senseless death, saying, "We can't bring her back. It doesn't really change anything."

Driver of stolen dump truck hit the vehicle of Florence Ngwu's daughter
Florence Ngwu and her daughter raced out of their home on Mother's Day to inspect after hearing a crash near their place. The driver of the stolen dump truck had hit her daughter's vehicle while trying to make a U-turn.
The driver recklessly hit an SUV, slamming it into another parked vehicle, trapping Ngwu in between. Princess said they were all hanging in there, trying to be strong. Princess paid tribute to her mother, saying she was a very strong woman, a very fierce woman.
According to the Daily Mail, the dump truck was reported stolen from Pawar Builders in Elmhurst. He slammed into the parked BMW eight times, dragging the car as he tried to turn around at the dead-end block. Witnesses said the suspect was arguing with a woman while making the turn.
