Elon Musk has learned never to post a message about "dying under mysterious circumstances" on social media, even if it's a joke after his mother, Maye Musk, scolded him on Twitter.

When the billionaire posted the cryptic message about dying on the platform he owns, Maye replied with an angry emoji and told her son that his joke was not funny. Elon quickly apologized to his mother and said he'll "do his best to stay alive."

According to Vanity Fair, Elon's tweet was likely a dig against Dmitry Rogozin, the Russian space chief who has been targeting the billionaire for allegedly supplying the Ukrainian army with hardware and connection to his SpaceX's Starlink internet. SpaceX also provided 3,670 Starlink terminals in Ukraine, and Elon confirmed this in a separate tweet in February when the conflict between Russia and Ukraine started.

Rogozin also accused the Musk family of getting rich during the apartheid years, but Elon and Maye issued their denials. Maye staunchly defended her son after The New York Times published a story about her son's alleged anti-Black upbringing in South Africa.

Maye Musk Snaps Back at Son's Critics

Maye was not amused that The New York Times story implied that her son was partly to blame for not doing anything about the apartheid years, which happened between the late 1940s to the early 1990s. The mother said that her son was still a child, and like all the children during those years, they do not have a hand in the decisions of their government, as per Fox News.

She also said that opposing the apartheid in South Africa could land any person in jail. Thus, many people could not speak out against the government. Far from being shielded from the struggles of the Black community, however, Elon and his siblings were exposed to what was going on, and they didn't like the discrimination against their non-white friends.

Elon lived in South Africa until he was 17 and then moved to Canada after his high school graduation with his mother and siblings Kimbal and Tosca. This happened after Maye's divorce from her husband, Errol Musk.

Who is Maye Mask?

Though Elon is likely the most famous member of the Musk family, his mom was quite popular in her younger years, as she was a pageant queen in South Africa and Canada before her marriage to Errol. She became an international model and still bagged a model contract in her 70s as the Cover Girl model for a makeup collection geared for older women. Maye can sometimes be seen at red carpet events with her famous son, but Hollywood has also learned to love her by featuring her in TV shows and music videos.

Her marriage to Errol was not a stable one, and she admitted in an interview with Harper's Bazaar that she used to be ashamed of being a victim of domestic abuse. Her husband belittled her and made sure she had nothing when they divorced.

As a single mom raising kids in Canada, Maye worked five jobs to ensure her kids could still live comfortably. Today, Maye is worth more than $20 million for her successful book deals released in the U.S., the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, South Africa, China, and her active modeling gigs.
