There is no doubt that the late actor Paul Walker is influential in the success of the popular hit series "Fast and Furious." Aside from playing the character of Brian O'Connor, he obviously contributed in the development of the film. His co-workers, especially Vin Diesel, are considering Walker's wishes in "Fast and Furious 8."
It has been a while since "Fast and Furious 8" was announced, yet there was no director yet. In fact, there were speculations that Diesel will be nominating himself in the director's chair, but according to MTV, the actor-producer has someone else in mind to helm the next franchise.
In a Facebook post, Diesel expressed his desire to work with Rob Cohen. Cohen helmed the original "Fast and Furious." While many might think it was Diesel's choice, it seems that, the choice is another influence of his late brother, Walker.
"There has always been the desire by Paul [Walker] to have Rob [Cohen] direct one more, this is what fueled my campaign," Diesel wrote. "I believe that he can and would reset the franchise nicely, returning to what was the core of the film in the beginning... racing. "
Diesel reminded his fans that it was Cohen who formed the team. He posted a photo featuring him, Paul, Jordana Brewser, Michelle Rodriguez, Cohen and his producing parter Neal.
"The man that introduced me to my producing partner Neal and who cast Jordana as my eternal sister... The one who allowed for such a powerful and blessed love with Michelle", he captioned the photo. "And like a father, had created the brotherhood that would define a millennium. Rob Cohen... I hear you Pablo... #HappyTorettoTuesday."
In an earlier report from Parent Herald, Rodriguez hinted that the "Fast 8" will be back to racing per Paul's desire. "[Paul] wanted to bring it back down to the core, which is the racing," said Rodriguez. "He was always complaining about the special effects and the blue screens" and wanted to end the "explosions and crazy plot lines."
The cast and crew of "Fast and Furious" have never stopped giving tribute to Walker as they work for the next franchise to be "true to Paul's wishes."
In fact, among Diesel's inspiration for "Fast 8" is Paul again. "Paul used to say that ['Fast & Furious'] 8 was guaranteed and, in some ways, when you're brother guarantees something, you have to make sure it comes to pass," Diesel said. "So, if fate has it-fate, F8-then you'll get it. 'Furious 7′ was for Paul; 8 is from Paul."
"Fast and Furious 8" is slated to launch on April 14, 2017.
