Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson delivered a huge surprise to his mom, Ata Johnson, gifting her a new house. The Hollywood star documented the big reveal, posting a series of videos to his Instagram account over the weekend.
One clip showed 73-year-old Ata approaching the threshold before walking through her home's front doors for the very first time. The video was set to the famed "Over the Rainbow" cover by late Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, according to Page Six.
The Rock says new home is special to his mom
Above the entrance of the house hangs a sign reading "Le Samoana", which is presumably a nod to his mother's Samoan ancestry. "When I was a little boy, I hated when my mom would cry ~ these days, I'll happily take her tears of joy," Johnson wrote of his mother's touching reaction to seeing her new abode, which he and a "design team" worked on for eight long weeks.
The Rock continued on, stating how he has been lucky enough to have bought his mom a few homes over the years, but this one is special as she's told him over and over these past few years, 'After a lifetime of traveling, I want this home to be my last. That's my dream.' Johnson added that there is no greater feeling than making his mother happy, before saying "welcome home."
The Rock subsequently gave his mother a tour of her new house, and, in two additional videos, he pointed out various meaningful aspects of the home's interior décor, according to the Daily Mail. In one video, Johnson's mom can be seen entering a room in which her collection of vintage ukuleles is mounted on a wall.
Of the pictures also visible in the space, Johnson wrote that he was able to unearth photographs of their ancestors that she has not seen since she was a child growing up in Samoa.

Johnson reveals there is a Smackdown room in his mom's new home
The final video clip chronicled the moment his mother discovered her "new 'Smackdown Room' ... where she keeps the coolest Rock/DJ memorabilia," explained Johnson in the caption. The Rock wrote that this is her favorite room to bring guests to and it is his least favorite because the last thing he wants to do is stand in a DJ Shrine while people look around as his mom takes them thru at all the stuff he has done.
Johnson then wrote "No thanks" with a laughing emoji. Johnson then turned serious, writing that the truth is, when he is by himself, these Smackdown rooms his mom creates have such positive energy and beautiful mana. The Rock wrote that it is always a good reminder for him to never forget where he came from and to always be grateful for the grind, according to People magazine.
The Rock concluded his post with a loving message to his mother, writing "I always say, if you got a good mom then you got a shot at becoming a good, caring human being. Let's all give our mamas a big grateful squeeze this weekend and make 'em happy."
