'Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1' Cast: Saga To End Avengers Team Says Marvel Exec, Team 'Will Be Evolving'

The "Avengers" movies rank as some of the all-time highest grossing movies according to Box Office Mojo. A third one, "Avengers: Infinity War," is still in development and will be told in two parts. But despite the potential profits these upcoming films are expected to gross, it looks like Marvel Studios is bent on ending the "Avengers" saga after "Infinity War."

Marvel executive Jeremy Latcham confirmed the conclusion at a recent Q&A held during the DVD/Blu-ray release of the second film, "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"It definitely is an end to some version of the team that we've come to know in The Avengers. Who knows exactly what's gonna happen yet in that film but I think this version of that team, and I think we hint to it at the end of Age of Ultron, that the team will be evolving," Latcham said, according to Comic Book.

"We're seeing this version of the team doing this thing to save the universe, the galaxy, however you want to put it, and then we'll kind of see where that goes. You know? It's not the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but I think it's the end of part of it, for sure. We're still trying to sort out which parts," he added further.

Part of the concern in making a huge film like the "Avengers" is because the team is growing bigger with more new characters. Just like it was in the comic book series, the other characters are also going on rotation, according to Collider. As Latcham said, there will be team members that won't be recognized 10 years later. In fact, the lineup change was already introduced at the end of "Age of Ultron."

The news outlet also reported that contracts for actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are up for renegotiations after "Infinity War, Part 2." Some of the original cast may no longer want to push forward, even as Evans said he's willing to do more "Avenger" movies.

"Marvel just can't stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It's wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it's like a playground as an actor," the actor said in a separate Collider interview.

Meanwhile, Latcham also hinted about the tone and feel of "Infinity War." "I was in an Infinity War meeting with the Russos earlier today and there are really old Starlin stuff, there's really new Hickman stuff, there's all kinds of stuff sitting on this table," he said, according to another Comic Book report.
