A 23-year-old preschool teacher on TikTok has been documenting her interesting journey online as she's teaching her 43-year-old father how to read and write. Lucy Flores from San Franciso works with children during the day but when she's not in school, she devotes her time to Luciano Flores, her father, who did not have an opportunity to finish past first grade when he was younger.

Speaking with "Good Morning America," Lucy said that she and her father started their lessons four months ago. This was not her first attempt at helping her dad because she also tried to teach Luciano while she was still in school and it didn't go well.

However, when Lucy finally got her teaching accreditations, her father was quite excited to "start" school with his daughter. He would become Lucy's most challenging student so far.

Lucy's Dad Didn't Want Anyone to See

During the first few days of her lessons, her father didn't want anyone to know and see that he was getting reading and writing lessons from his daughter. Luciano, who is from Mexico and speaks little English, works in construction. Lucy, admittedly, could not believe that her father was able to conceal from his co-workers that he could not read and write.

However, Luciano eventually became more confident, thanks to his daughter's guidance and has agreed to document his progress. So, for two to three hours a day after work, Lucy and Luciano had their lessons at home and she would post videos of their sessions on TikTok.

Since sharing the videos, the account has gained more than 91,000 followers and 2.5 million likes. She has received a lot of suggestions and feedback on what they can improve on so that Luciano could learn faster.

Lucy also said that teaching her father has been gratifying for their relationship as father and daughter. Before the lessons, Lucy admitted that she didn't get along with Luciano, who has been dealing with generational trauma. But then, sitting down with her father a few times a week has deepened their bond.

The father and daughter are planning to visit the local library soon and it has Lucy quite psyched up just thinking about her father's reaction once he sees rooms full of books.

Daughter Gives Dad the Ultimate Gift

Meanwhile, another father and daughter relationship has touched the hearts of the public. Dana Farengo-Clark has given her father, Vincent, the ultimate gift to mark Father's Day on June 19. She donated the kidney that would save his life.

Vincent, who is from Naples, Florida, could not get on the transplant list because of his age, and his wife and other kids were not a match, except for Dana. However, Vincent initially didn't want Dana to be his donor because he was concerned for her health.

She convinced her dad to use her kidney by saying that she wants to give back to him for giving life to her 40 years ago. They got through 10 hours of a successful surgery.

"Now, he walks around with a little piece of me kind of makes me smile," the daughter said, per WINK.
