Police in Texas said two people were killed and five others injured during a drive-by mass shooting at a family barbeque in San Antonio, the New York Post reported.
During a press conference, San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus told reporters that the seven people were shot at about 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, as a family was barbecuing outside a house.
McManus said that an unspecified number of people drove by the San Antonio home and unloaded between 20 and 30 rounds of ammunition. He added that two of the victims in the shooting were women, and the other five were men, with their ages ranging between 20 and mid-forties.
Six children were fortunately not injured in the shooting
The police chief also revealed that six kids were inside the house as the shots were fired but that they were uninjured, according to NBC News. He said that, fortunately, the children were not out front at the time of the shooting.
McManus said cops did not have a description of the suspects. He acknowledged that they have a couple of theories regarding the motive of the shooting while cautioning that the investigation is still in its early stages.
Authorities are still searching for the suspects who drove by a home in the 2500 block of Patron Drive and opened fire from a dark-colored SUV. Neighbors who did not want to be identified because the shooting still shook them up said they initially thought the sounds they heard were from fireworks.

Two men killed were in their mid-40s
One woman who lives down the street told news station KSAT, "I told my husband, was that fireworks? He goes, 'no, that was a gun.' There was some gunshots." A young man added that it sounded like fireworks because none of that ever happened here.
The two men who were killed were ages 45 and 46. The other five victims were transported to the hospital with wounds from gunfire, according to police. The injured victims ranged in age from 19 to 44, three of which were men and two women.
McManus summed up the police's findings thus far, saying, "For now, seven people shot out in front of the house barbecuing, a drive-by, multiple rounds fired, two dead, five injured. Two females, five males. Two males deceased."
Victims were treated at the crime scene and transported to the hospital. The home is near Interstate 35 South and Palo Alto Road, just inside Loop 410. When asked about gun violence, the young man said it is always around, but it is never in their neighborhood. He added that it is a big shock having it on his street, too.
The woman interviewed echoed that sentiment, saying, "You're, you're not safe anywhere, you know, not even at church. Not even at school. So it's getting bad. It's getting worse."
