A woman has become an instant celebrity on social media after revealing that she is a mother to 34 children at 23. Tusayiwe Mkhondya uploaded a video on TikTok, showing her morning routine in the home she runs in Malawi for street kids, teen mothers, and orphans.
Mkhondya found herself as a homeless single mother at 18 but opened her organization "You Are Not Alone" (YANA) shortly after, according to the New York Post. The children in her shelter range from five months up to 16, and she has a very grueling routine in caring for the kids.
Mkhondya opened up about her tasks on her @tusaiweyana account, saying, "All the kids are not abandoned. Some are orphans, some have only one parent, some have both parents but they have been abandoned by those parents." She added that she provides her children with education, empowerment, and skills.
Mkhondya's day begins at 4 a.m.
She said that her day begins early at 4 a.m. Mkhondya showed in the video clip how she prepares all the food for the children - including hot dinners, juice boxes, and sandwiches. She added that she is the only one who cooks for the children under the age of 5, and every kid has their own morning chores.

The children go to bed at 7 p.m., but her job is not done yet. Her night shift starts as she feeds many babies who will wake up around that time. "I have to feed them and also change their diapers, and I also have to prepare for work and the next day," she said.
Many people praised the mother's efforts on the social media platform, with one of them saying: "You are doing an amazing thing for all of them! Keep it up!!" Another person commented: "May God reward you abundantly."

Tusayiwe, a beacon of hope for abandoned and orphaned children in Malawi
According to the Nation, Mkhondya is a beacon of hope for orphaned and abandoned kids in the capital city of Mzuzu in Malawi. Tusayiwe is one of the thousands of teenagers in her country who fell pregnant while still underaged.
She gave birth to her baby at the age of 16. It was not easy for Tusayiwe, who gave birth to a son with special needs who she said was constantly abused by his teachers at school. That did not stop her from making a huge difference in her community, as she founded YANA at age 20.
The non-profit organization not only supports young mothers but also provides early childhood development services, special education, and educational support to orphans and street kids. YANA is a youth-led baby organization born in 2020 to a mother organization called Empowering Young Mothers, founded in 2017.
