A woman shared that she had brought a handbag from Salvation Army. She found an envelope filled with $300 in cash when she cleaned it and a note from the previous owner, Martha.
The former owner left a juicy note about how the Coach bag used to belong to her cheating husband's girlfriend. She said she always wore it after his mistress left it at their house. She always wondered if he noticed it was his girlfriend's.
Lynora Silverman, 56, founder of CBD company Infused ReLeaf in Philadelphia, shared her discovery on her Tiktok video, explaining that she bought the handbag from the Salvation Army at $6.99, according to Newsweek.
The story of the thrift Coach bag
The Coach bag, the letter explained, was given to her by her husband's girlfriend. She later clarified that it was not what happened. She explained that she came home early from a visit to her parent's house in Connecticut. The girlfriend must have hurriedly left because she had forgotten her bag and shoes.
Martha gave the bag away because her kids did not want it but encouraged the new bag owner to buy herself a new bag.
Silverman's Tiktok video has since gone viral, getting more than 8.8 million views. Most of the comments admired Martha.
The new Coach bag owner is now looking for Martha. In a follow-up video, she returned to the Salvation Army and asked about the bag's former owner. She later learned from an employee that Martha was in the store in December.
The viral Tiktok also captured the attention of another person who had a similar message from a plastic box with glasses and shredded paper.
A juicier story
In a plastic box, Martha also explained in a letter attached to a glass that her kids will donate everything when she dies, so she is hiding some notes and sometimes money in donation boxes. She said she is sharing a tale to get something off her chest, as per Daily Mail.
She described her husband as a "player" to many women, including his brother's wife.
She named her husband "Rufus," and when his brother "Willy" died, he was overwhelmed with grief. They were excited to learn that his brother's widowed wife got pregnant shortly after the brother died. She said she poured lemonade into the glasses to celebrate the baby's coming.
Martha was about to call the mother-in-law to share the news when she realized she was more excited about the information than either. She noticed that her husband and her sister-in-law just stared at each other. Rufus told her that his brother was sterile and the baby was his.
After the baby was born, a DNA test confirmed that the baby was Rufus'. Her sister-in-law ran off after birth and left them to raise the baby as their own. She and Rufus eventually had two girls. Martha admitted that she was glad to have kept the boy because she ended up liking the boy more than the two girls.
She kept the DNA test, and since she did not want her children to discover the truth, she shredded the DNA test and used it as packaging to protect the antique glasses. Martha also said that Rufus is already long gone. She hoped the glass would bring light to its new owner's kitchen. Martha also permitted the new owner to throw the shredded DNA tests for her.
