A viral video had circulated on TikTok wherein the mother lets her baby wear a pair of miniature slingback heels, and many concerned citizens disapproved.

A mom under the username @delleted060919 captioned her post with the hashtags #louboutins' and #walkamile along with laughing emojis.

However, netizens did not find the video amusing as the baby had difficulty walking. Per Daily Star, many blasted the mother in the comments.

Mother under fire over tiny heels

Many people criticized the mother, commenting on her baby's poor feet and that it was one of the ways to break a baby's ankle.

The mom eventually felt the need to hit back at the trolls in the comments as she clarified how it had been a joke and that the heels are build-a-bear shoes, so they are soft. Plus, someone was holding the baby's hands as she walked. She also thanked the commenters for their concern.

The clip amassed over 53,000 views as of July 13. The baby's sparkling silver heels were accessorized with baby pink polka dot socks. The clip's background music was Iggy Azalea's "Work," and the viral video was played in the seven-second clip with the line: "Walk a mile in these Louboutins," Rock 92.9 reported.

Build-A-Bear footwear

Despite the backlash, some TikTok users spoke out in defense of the mum. They said the critics were just bitter as the toddler doesn't wear the shoes daily and the mother is just joking around.

On the other hand, Build-a-bear is a type of footwear for kids of all ages that possess a soft quality as it is made of furry.

However, choosing the first shoes of a baby is important as under the age of five, their feet grow fast, and it is important that the bones grow straight.

Bones in a baby's toes are soft at birth, and if they are cramped by tight shoes or socks, it is hard for them to straighten out and grow properly.

According to Better Health, toddlers must go barefoot as much as possible to develop balance, posture, and coordination. Most toddlers are flat-footed when they begin walking because of the feet' underdeveloped bones, muscles, and ligaments.

A toddler starting to walk obtains salient sensory information from the soles of the feet as it touches the ground. Footwear helps protect the feet from any injury, cold, and heat.

The toddlers will develop muscle strength as they touch the ground with their feet. If they are now walking confidently, they can progress to a firmer soled shoe.

Shoes that are too tight for the toddler can hamper their walk and cause problems such as ingrown toenails.

Therefore, have your child's shoes professionally fitted, including the measurement of each foot for length and width.
