Four bodies recovered from a pond in the city of Indianapolis were identified on Wednesday, July 13, as those of a man who had been reported missing and his three kids.
According to the Marion County Coroner's Office, the bodies were that of 27-year-old Kyle Moorman and his three children, five-year-old Kyle Moorman II, two-year-old Kyannah Holland, and one-year-old Kyran Holland, NBC News reported.
Indianapolis authorities had asked the public for help in locating Moorman and his three young kids in a news release this week. They had been missing since July 6, when Moorman told his family that he was going fishing with his three children at 11 p.m.
Dad and 3 kids pronounced dead at the scene
Cops said they responded to a call just after 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 12. With the help of fire service divers, they retrieved the body of a man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sonar technology later located a vehicle in the pond. According to the statement, the vehicle was pulled from the water, and three young children were found inside. Officials did not confirm the identities of the passengers at the time. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) said on Wednesday that there was a commonality with the Moorman family missing persons investigation.
Assistant Police Chief Chris Bailey told WTHR that the car matched the description of the vehicle Moorman was driving when he was last seen. The same area where the vehicle was found was searched this week by officers on foot and drones. Police said a death investigation had been launched with the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency also assisting in the case.
Cops responded to the pond at Troy Avenue and Bluff Road around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, after receiving a report of a body being found in the water. IMPD tweeted around 9:30 p.m. that police officers were conducting a death investigation at the location.
IMPD confirmed just before 10 p.m. that divers from the Indianapolis Fire Department recovered a man's body from the water, where according to family members, Moorman's phone last sent out a signal on the evening of Thursday, July 7.

Search for Moorman family ends in tragedy
After divers from the Department of Natural Resources and Indianapolis Fire Department located the man's body, they then found a vehicle in the pond. Bailey later confirmed that three small kids were found dead inside the vehicle.
Moorman's family was at the pond with police on Monday night to help in the search. Police stated that no tracks were seen heading toward the water; thus, they did not call for a dive team. IMPD did confirm to reporters that a baby bottle was found near the pond, which they collected for potential evidence.
Megan Brewster, Moorman's sister, told IndyStar via Facebook messenger that he was the best daddy in the world and a great brother and would be missed.
