A teen mom shared on Tiktok that she took her toddler son to prom as her date after failing to find a babysitter to care for her one-year-old son, Arthur.

The mom said everyone was going to the prom with their boyfriends, but she took her "biggest blessing," according to Daily Star.

The young mom's post had gone viral on Tiktok after she shared a heartwarming clip about it. She also clapped back at haters who said she ruined her life by getting pregnant at a young age. The now-viral video got more than 220,000 likes and a staggering 1.6 million views.

The young mom and her date

Melissa Mccabe, 16, got pregnant at 14, gave birth at 15, and raised Arthur alone.

As per New York Post, since she wanted her little boy to be a part of her prom, she ordered him a suit and took the most important guy in her life as her date. All the teachers were gushing about how gorgeous her prom date looked.

She added that it was so cute having Arthur with her and getting pictures taken together because they do not have any up-to-date photos. Her little boy loved going to the prom and particularly loved the snacks.

Breaking the stigma

When she discovered she was pregnant, it was in the middle of a lockdown. Melissa was at the receiving end of negative comments about having a child at a very young age. Not giving up, the former Ridgeway High School student vowed to break the stigma surrounding teen moms.

She admitted it was hard being pregnant at a young age and raising a son alone. Liverpool Echo stated everyone was telling her that she was ruining her life and that she would not get her General Certificate of Secondary Education (GSCE).

The young mom shared that people would often assume that Arthur is her brother, but when she tells them he is her son, people's attitudes would completely change. She noted that older people would find her situation disgusting because, for them, marriage should come first, then the kids.

When she brought Arthur to her prom, she got a couple of negative comments but was comforted that she also got messages from girls who got pregnant while still in school and worrying if they should go back to study. She also said that she got several supportive comments and is thrilled because these are people whom she does not know. She also is grateful for her teacher's support, especially her deputy head teacher and form tutor, who helped her through her rough times as a mom.

Last month, she proved her critics wrong after completing her GCSE and made it to Health and Social Care at a College in September. She said she is proud of herself as a teen mom and is incredibly grateful to her brother and sister-in-law for the unending love and support.
