A British father who topped the scales at 191 kilograms (30 stone) said dancing on the social media platform TikTok helped him shed a third of his weight.

Adrian Scarlett revealed he always struggled with weight, but his young kids gave him a timely wake-up call. The dad of three had dropped more than 64 kilograms (10 stone) through determination, diet, and dancing on TikTok, which he does under the name Bye Bye Fatman.

The 52-year-old's videos had already amassed millions of views, and now he wants to help others lose weight too. The Herefordshire native said he has suffered from a binge-eating disorder throughout his adult life. Scarlett added that any time he has been under stress, food had been his comfort.

Kids served as a wake-up call for overweight Scarlett

Scarlett, a teacher at a school in Hereford, said he changed his mindset after getting married and raising his three kids, aged six, three, and 20 months. He noted that meal replacement shakes helped him shift the first few kilograms, which he continued with exercise and healthy eating.

Scarlett explained that his children were his wake-up call, telling BBC, "If I don't get healthy now, what are the chances I will be there to support them as they grow up? I had to do something."

He documented his weight loss journey through several dance videos to trending songs that he posted on TikTok using his @Bye_Bye_Fatman profile. He has become an instant celebrity on the platform, with his profile attracting about 52,000 followers and more than 3.1 million likes.

Scarlett said that as the audiences increase, he is now held accountable by more and more people, and it is impossible to fail because he has people watching him. He added that he had not set himself a target because he feels that adds extra pressure, so he just chips away a couple of pounds each week.

According to the Hereford Times, Scarlett won £5,000 in holiday vouchers from Slim and Save after losing 64 kilograms (10 stone) over the past year. He has dropped from nearly 192 kilograms (30 stone) to under 128 kilograms (20 stone) in weight during that time.

He started his diet on July 12, 2021, and has charted his progress on TikTok. Six of his videos on the platform have been viewed by more than one million people, including one video clip that has topped four million views.

Scarlett told the media outlet that he has no plans to stop his weight loss journey, saying that his journey is far from over and that he will keep going until he feels completely comfortable in his own skin. He also said he wants to encourage others to do the same thing he is doing now.
