"Livin La Vida Loca" hitmaker Ricky Martin, 50, has denied that he engaged in an illicit relationship with his 21-year-old nephew, who also accused the singer of domestic violence.

In a statement to the press, Martin's lawyer, Marty Singer, said that the person claiming the incest and abuse allegations is not of sound mind and has been having "deep mental health challenges."

Singer reiterated that his client was never in any sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew because the very thought is "disgusting." The lawyer, who did not mention the name of Martin's nephew, also said that the young man needs to get the "help he so urgently needs," per NBC News.

Restraining order and domestic violence allegations

Before Martin's denial, a judge in Puerto Rico issued a restraining order for allegations of domestic violence against the pop superstar. Details regarding the order were not shared with the press, but Telemundo reported Martin's husband of five years, Jwan Yosef, was not involved.

Further reports cited that Martin was involved with another person for seven months, but the relationship had ended. Despite this, Martin allegedly does not accept the separation and has frequently called the other person. The singer was also seen hanging around the complainant's house; thus, he fears for his safety.

The complainant also said that the "She Bangs" singer has been abusing alcohol and drugs. However, instead of going to the police, the complainant directly went to court for the restraining order. A hearing has been scheduled for July 21, and if found guilty, Martin could face a 50-year prison sentence.

It comes as the Grammy winner is facing another lawsuit filed by his former agent, Rebecca Drucker, who said Martin owes her millions of unpaid commission. Drucker filed her lawsuit on June 29, but Martin and his lawyers have not publicly commented on it.

Ricky Martin's half-brother speaks out

Meanwhile, Martin's half-brother, Eric Martin, has also stated that the nephew has been dealing with mental issues. Daily Mail identified the nephew's name as Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, the son of Vanessa Martin, Ricky's half-sister.

Allegedly, Eric came out with a Facebook live video to say that the family is "tired of being quiet" about Sanchez's deteriorating health. He said their nephew had been estranged from them because he had also hurt other family members.

The nephew had a criminal record in their native country and threatened to kill a co-worker, Claudia Ramrez Martell. The woman filed for a restraining order against Sanchez as he became obsessed with her.

Meanwhile, amid his legal problems, Martin, who has four kids with Yosef, has kept working and was seen on the set of "Mrs. American Pie," an upcoming TV dramedy series for AppleTV+. He's also set to perform in a series of shows in Los Angeles.
