A California woman was killed in a car crash on her way to a dance competition with her two daughters on Friday, July 15, according to People Magazine. Bonnie Baum Roth's SUV veered into the Interstate 8 median at 8:38 a.m., with the vehicle rolling down an embankment and landing on the highway's eastbound lane.
The 35-year-old Alpine native was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a statement, saying that Roth died before she could be taken to the hospital.
Roth and her two daughters, nine-year-old Moxie and three-year-old Roxie, had just departed for a dance competition in Long Beach when the crash happened, according to a GoFundMe page set up by the victim's mother, Cheryl Baum.
Family searching for Good Samaritans
Baum told ABC 10 San Diego that she and her family are now searching for two people who quickly reacted to the car crash scene and pulled the two kids out of the wrecked SUV. She added that the unnamed good Samaritans also covered up the victim's body while comforting her two children about 10 minutes before emergency personnel arrived on the crash scene.
Baum said she heard it was tough to get them out. She added that the babies were screaming and anything could have happened to them. Baum called the small group of people who reacted first to the car crash their heroes. She and her family are pleading with them to come forward so that they can thank them personally for their heroics.
Baum said the little girls had asked where their friends were, the ones who helped them out of the vehicle. She added that they are part of their family now, and they can't thank them enough for being so brave.

GoFundMe page set up for Roth's family
According to the county medical examiner's report, Roth's Chevrolet Tahoe veered to the right side of the highway for unknown reasons. This caused the mom to overcorrect, making the SUV veer left off the westbound side of Interstate 8. The vehicle eventually landed upright in the highway's eastbound lane. The CHP said that neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be involved in the crash.
Roth's mother paid tribute to the heroes in the GoFundMe page she set up in the aftermath of her daughter's death. She wrote that the two girls are safe, all thanks to the heroes who helped them at the scene.
She added that this had been an earth-shattering loss to the huge community of people Bonnie touched in her short time here. The fundraising page, created on Tuesday, July 19, had already raised $55,683 as of Wednesday evening after setting an initial goal of just $1,000.
