Assassin's Creed Movie: Major Stars Cast! Michael Fassbender's Dad Confirmed [Rumors]

Several video games were adapted into the big screens due to its immense success and popularity. Among these are "Resident Evil," "Street Fighter" and "Tekken" to name a few. Looks like another video game will hit the big screens soon.

According to CrossMap,"Assassin's Creed" movie is finally in production after encountering several problems in development. At the time of the report, the cast and crew were already in Valleta, Malta filming.

The report suggests that the leaked photos of the set were similar to "Assassin's Creed 2."

The production announcement for the "Assassin's Creed" movie happened during Ubisoft's quarterly financial call. Yves Guillemot (Ubisoft CEO) did the honor to announce the good news.

"We have the pleasure to announce today that the green light has been given by New Regency, and the production has already started," Guillemot said. "This is a very important milestone for the project and for our team on Assassin's Creed."

Ubisoft, the developer and game publisher will be producing the film, alongside New Regency. The report suggests that New Regency is not a newbie in the movie industry. In fact, among its great titles were "12 years a slave," "Birdman" and "Gone Girl."

According to Deadline, veteran actors "Reversal of Fortune" star Jeremy Irons and "Into the Storm" actor Brendan Gleeson will be joining the cast of "Assassin's Creed" opposite Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.

Irons has won several awards an Oscar for "Reversal of Fortune," an Emmy, a Tony, SAG and Golden Globe. His upcoming films include "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" directed by Zack Snyder where he plays the role of Alfred Pennyworth and "The Correspondence" directed by Giuseppe Tornatore.

On the other hand, Gleeson last worked with Fassbender on "Tresspass Among Us" He just completed filming "The Free State Of Jones" and "Alone in Berlin." The Irish-actor won several best actor awards for leading the Irish drama film "Calvary."

Irons will be playing as Cotillard's father, while Gleeson will be Fassbender's dad.

"Elements in the film have consequences as in our games, comics, and books" said Aymar Azaizai. He stressed that the movie will feature a brand new story with new characters, but one might still find familiar faces." You will find lots of elements from our franchise! Modern day is a key element in the franchise, and it is a key element in the movie," PlayStationLifeStyle.net reports.

"Assassin's Creed" is directed by Justin Kurzel. The film will be released by 20th Century Fox and is slated to be released on Dec. 21, 2016.
