The mother of a shooting victim in Brooklyn, New York, is praying harder and asking for stronger family members to be with her as her son, who was shot in an argument over cold fries at McDonald's, remains in critical condition.
Speaking exclusively with the New York Post, the mom, who asked for her name not to be published, said that she couldn't handle what had happened and admitted that her mind was unstable. She had asked for a pastor to join her in the hospital as they waited for good news from the doctors of Matthew Jeremiah Webb, 23.
Webb was working at McDonald's when he was shot in the neck at around 7:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2022. Allegedly, the shooter, Michael Morgan, 20, was upset when Webb got into an argument with his mother, Lisa Fulmore, 40, because she was served cold fries.
Morgan got even more upset when the McDonald's workers allegedly laughed at his mother when she asked to speak to the manager. Sometime later, Webb went outside of McDonald's and was gunned down.

Shooter's mom says it was self-defense
Fulmore told Daily Mail that her son was acting in self-defense. Webb left McDonald's to look for her son to follow up on their spat. She alleged that he was still on the clock at work, and her son was already gone for 15 minutes. She said that Webb asked her where her son was, and then sometime later, she heard the gunshot.
The mom insisted that her son needed to do what he did because the McDonald's worker went after him. Fulmore also said that she did not tolerate gun violence and was not aware Morgan had a gun. She felt terrible that Webb is now fighting for his life.
The mother said he was on Facetime with her son when the argument over fries happened. Morgan was ready to defend his mom, but she told him not to come anymore because he didn't want her son to get into trouble.
Fulmore also said that she was the one who called 911 when the shooting took place and waited for the police to arrive. Witnesses said Fulmore appeared to be in shock as she gave all the information to the police.
"The only thing I know is that my son was arguing with the boy," Fulmore said. "The boy did go out looking for my son."
Arrest and charges filed
Police said that Webb did not have any arrest records and had no indication that he had a gun. On the other hand, Morgan had prior arrests, including assault in 2018 and grand larceny in 2019.
According to CBS News, Morgan had been charged with attempted murder, while his 18-year-old girlfriend, Camellia Dunlap, had been charged with criminal possession of a weapon as she allegedly tried to hide his gun.
Meanwhile, the McDonald's operator, Roy Iraci, issued a statement to condemn gun violence. He also said they would cooperate with the investigations and pray for their staff's swift recovery.
