A father from New York, who just came home from his teenage son's funeral, has been left numbed after losing his 4-year-old son with autism when the child got hit by a car on the street.

Michael McDonald found his son, Domantea McDonald, screaming for his parents after getting struck by a Toyota RAV4. The father said he tried to stabilize his toddler on the ground until the emergency services arrived.

When the emergency crew came, the family was told to clear the area so they could check Domantea. However, the boy saw his mom and tried to crawl toward her. Michael said his son passed out and then died on the pavement.

"I watched him leave his body right here because they let him crawl," Michael said, per the New York Post.

Father hurting after losing two sons

Maurice McDonald, Michael's brother, told Daily Mail that it truly hurts for a father to lose his sons in just one month. Michael's older son, Tysheem McDonald, 18, was shot two weeks ago in what the police said was likely a gang-related incident. The father said he could no longer do anything to Tysheem as he "wanted to be his own man."

Michael told the cops that moments before Domantea's accident; he went out to buy a new phone because he lost his old one at Tysheem's memorial services. He was on his bike back to Maurice's house when he saw the commotion on the street and found his toddler and his mother on the ground.

Domantea had broken away from his mother and ran towards the middle of the road where an SUV was driving by. Witnesses said that the driver of the SUV was not speeding at all, and he waited for the police to arrive to answer any questions. No charges were made against him as of press time.

The father said Domantea's autism triggers stuff where the toddler "would see things" and just run towards them. The boy's death was listed as severe head trauma and internal injuries. The emergency crew has not commented on Michael's assumptions that Domantea could still be saved if he wasn't made to crawl towards his mom.

Michael also said that Tysheem loved his little brother. In the handful of times they've been together, Domantea always went with Tysheem and no one else.

California boy dies in father's arms

Meanwhile, in California, a father saw his 7-year-old son breathe his last in his arms after being struck by a car in Long Beach. Francisco Garate and his son Gabriel were crossing the street to get to the park when a Dodge pickup truck sped and failed to yield at the crosswalk.

The driver, James Barnes, told the police he didn't notice the father and son. Francisco said he held Gabriel, but everything happened so fast. Barnes is facing felony vehicular manslaughter and negligence. Reports from Fox29 cited that he was not drunk nor under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
