Home is where the heart is! This infamous quote cannot be any truer for Hollywood actress Eva Mendes who defines home as everywhere with her husband and children.

Wife to actor Ryan Gosling and a mother of two daughters, Esmeralda Amada, 7, and Amada Lee, 6, she said that "My man and my kids," represents home to her now, People reported.

Mendes, who has been in the industry for a decade now and has toured the world because of her work, has stayed at home, wherever that may be, as long as she is with her family, even if it gets to be messy.

Mendes, whose last movie was in 2014 and who plans to only star in a family-friendly film, shared that she has already learned to embrace the mess in their house, knowing that it is impossible to have a tidy, perfect house with two young kids.

The actress said you have to be okay with the mess if you have kids. Yet, she added that she is much better when their house is clean. She shared that the house's cleanliness is "literally connected" with her mental wellness.

Raising kids without gender-specific roles

When asked about how she and Gosling are raising their kids, the actress directly points out that it is a team effort, not just of the husband and wife but also with the kids.

Mendes was also quick to emphasize in another article that there are no gender-specific roles that they take. Her husband, most of the time, gets to have dinner duty. Though this may be contrary to what society or culture dictates, she is happy that this breaks generalizations and labels and that their kids get to see a good example at home.

"Hopefully it's showing my girls that there are no gender-specific roles that one must take on and that we are partners in this. It's a team effort every day, so if they see him and I switching off doing certain things that again aren't specific to stereotypical gender things, I think that just creates balance and harmony," Mendes declared.

Equally passionate about her career as businesswoman

The passion she gives off as a wife and mother is the same that she gives to her business and ever-growing empire.

She recently announced her latest partnership with Skura Style and confessed that she "finds doing the dishes oddly exciting." Aside from being the brand ambassador, she is also now the brand's co-owner.

She said her latest venture with the brand happened because of her love for anything to do with home and her obsession with making a home beautiful and clean.

She also shared that her career as a businesswoman was the same as when she was 23 and just starting her acting career. She stayed open to things and opportunities. Just one thing is different. Right now, she can create opportunities, so she makes sure to follow what she is passionate about.
