According to local authorities, Mark Greenburg, 55, was charged with aggravated stalking of a six-year-old girl, per Inside Edition. He was arrested on September 3 by the Volusia County Sheriff's Deputies after receiving multiple reports from the child's father and other neighbors of Greenberg's constant harassment of the young girl and other victims.
Numerous reports have been filed against the Florida man as he had been harassing neighbors, yelling at them along with their kids using a megaphone, and driving past houses while recording children on his phone, as stated in a press release from the sheriff's office.
On the evening of September 2, while the six-year-old was playing outside, the father noticed the suspect walking to the end of his driveway and addressing several unusual sexual comments to his daughter. He immediately called the police.
Many witnesses stood up for the little girl and reported hearing Greenburg's words. They said he even told the young girl he would bring her to Disney World.
Greenburg's behavior sparked outrage in the neighborhood
According to the sheriff's office, Greenburg's arrest followed a series of complaints from about a dozen witnesses who reported the older man's behavior, including 11 incidents, over the past eight months.
Some of the lewd comments the Florida man has said were: "I'm going to make you famous" and "I'm going to turn you into a woman or a big girl."
The girl's father said now his daughter is terrified to go outside their neighborhood, as she no longer felt safe due to Greenburg's harassment. The police said Greenburg had even followed her to her grandmother's house. The young girl often visits her grandmother's house in another neighborhood nearby.
Per the sheriff's office, the older man parked his car outside the six-year-old's grandmother's house and took many photos.
The girl's family surmised that he had followed her as there was no way he would have found out where she lived.
The deputies tried to speak to Greenburg on Friday evening, but he refused and requested to talk to them the next day. The deputies and the Deltona Crime Suppression Team acquired a warrant and returned to arrest the older man, ABC News 4 reported.
Greenburg was booked into jail on a $5,000 bond.
