The "Smash" star, Megan Hilty, is finally speaking up after several of her family members, including her eight-months pregnant sister, died in a plane crash, US Magazine reported.
Hilty wrote on Instagram, Wednesday, September 7: "On Sunday afternoon, a small float plane crashed into Puget Sound off the coast of Whidbey Island. My beloved sister Lauren, brother-in-law Ross and baby nephew Remy were on that plane. To make this news even more devastating, my sister was eight months pregnant and we were expecting to welcome baby boy Luca into the world next month."
In the social media post of the actress, she referred to the recent tragedy as the "worst of our lives." The 41-year-old actress admitted that there are truly no words to convey the depth of their grief. Adding that the last thing she wanted to do is acknowledge the painful family tragedy publicly and noticed that several news outlets have misgendered her nephew and haven't even mentioned the baby, namely Luca, who was also a victim of the crash.

Accurate details are important to respectfully honor lost family members
The "Sweet Mountain Christmas" actress said that Lauren and Ross, left behind her niece who are all holding their hearts. Thankfully, her niece was not on the plane but requested that her name and other personal information be kept private as she is still a minor.
Hilty reminded the news outlet to provide accurate information and correct those wrong details in order to respectfully honor everyone they've lost and the ones they've left behind. The actress thanked those who pour their love and support into their family as it means so much to everyone in the family. "It has been so comforting to know just how loved Lauren, Ross, Remy, and Luca truly are."
The aircraft was about to bound to Renton Municipal Airport from tourist destination Friday Harbor but it suddenly went down 30 miles outside of downtown Seattle. Six among nine passengers, unfortunately, died due to the tragedy, along with the pilot, NBC News KING 5 says.
Extended their gratitude to the emergency service personnel who responded
The 'Prisma voice actress in "Sofia the First" did not immediately react to the tragedy but issued a statement on behalf of the family revealing that Lauren and Mickel had a son on the way. The family couldn't contain their emotions and their collective grief is unimaginable.
The family members they have lost were a bright and shining light in the lives of everyone who knew them. She concluded that although the time they have spent with them appears to be short, the family who was left behind will continue to carry their legacy forward.
The actress' loved ones thanked emergency service personnel who immediately responded to the accident that also includes the members of the United States Coast Guard, along with the private citizens who didn't hesitate to help and participate in the search and rescue following the crash.
According to TODAY, the National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation of the tragedy.
