Sheriff's investigators arrested a mother involved in a brawl on her kid's middle school bus in Chester County, South Carolina, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Two students started fighting on the Chester Middle School bus on Friday afternoon, just before the bus arrived at a stop. According to a news release from the sheriff's office, a parent of one of the brawling juveniles stepped onto the bus, causing the situation to escalate.

This prompted the bus driver to drive to the parking lot of the Sheriff's Office and honk the horn to get the attention of law enforcement. Deputies then broke up the children's fight on the bus, but other kids' parents soon arrived in the parking lot, according to sheriff's officials.

Investigators pursuing charges against parent of brawling juvenile

The parents started a fight of their own, and the deputies had to step in again. Fortunately, Chester High School and Chester Middle School staff arrived and helped dismiss the students on the bus to the parents who came to fetch them.

Investigators are now pursuing a charge of interfering with the operation of a school bus against the parent they arrested, while

the other parent involved in the fight was ticketed for disorderly conduct. The sheriff's office has not released the names of the parents involved in the brawl, as the investigation is still ongoing and charges have yet to be filed.

A student on the bus told Charlotte Observer news partner WSOC that the woman boarded the bus and hit two children in the jaw while she protected her kid. Reporter Glenn Counts talked to Jayden Mondragon and Jacob Hall, two students who said they were on the school bus during the fight.

Things escalated when the parent boarded the school bus

Hall said he was nervous and concerned because they might come up to the front and start fighting there, too, and that was where he was. Mondragon added that he heard someone screaming in the back, so he looked back. He then saw random girls jumping another girl and punching her.

In a video shared exclusively with Channel 9, a parent was seen boarding the school bus to come to the aid of her kid, who was in a fight.

And that was when Mondragon and Hall said things escalated.

Mondragon narrated the mom stepped out of her vehicle, got inside the bus, and started protecting her child. She then hit two kids in the jaw. Hall said it was concerning because they could end up killing each other by the way they were fighting.

Chester County Schools Superintendent Antwon Sutton issued a statement, thanking sheriff's investigators for their swift action in diffusing the serious situation. Sutton said that school officials would continue to fully cooperate with the sheriff's office during their investigation.
