10 Hilarious Things Children Do When Their Parents Are Not Looking

Being a parent is a big responsibility, but having an adorable and fun child somehow lightens things and makes you forget all your life worries. Children love to play, something many parents would agree with, which is why it is always chaotic around the house. So, when it suddenly becomes too quiet, parents can bet that their children are into unusual, per Buzz Feed.

Clarion Ledger, a mother, shared on her blog ClarionLedger, that a screaming child won't make her worry as it could be hollering for any number of reasons, but a quiet child makes her think that her child is up to something.

She experienced her two little boys being too quiet inside their room after screaming moments ago. She got curious and decided to see what they were up to. She opened the door to find her boys jumping from the bed and high up to reach the ceiling fan, where they hang onto the blades and spin around.

Here are some of the children's hilarious moments when their parents are not looking:

1. Painting and scribbling on walls.

Even though children just want to display their creativity and fine motor control through several scribbles and painting, they, unfortunately, damage the walls and, sometimes, the furniture.

2. Mixing different things with their food.

Children love to explore, and this does not spare food. They mix things with their cereal or other foods because they delight in the aromas, colors, and textures they get. Parents must be cautious as some kids might be able to mix something in their food that could put their lives at risk.

3. Use yogurt for make-up.

Kids' curiosity, especially girls, usually include make-up, perhaps because they often see their moms using it. Most mothers have probably experienced turning their backs from the dining table for a few minutes and looking back to find their little girls' faces coated with yogurt instead of eating it.

4. Cutting their hair.

Children just can't resist using a pair of scissors whenever they see one unattended. Unfortunately, it is their hair that becomes the casualties. Either they cut it because they want to try using the scissors, or want to look like someone or follow something they saw on TV and end up looking funny, no matter what. Funny, maybe, but kids using a pair of scissors unsupervised is dangerous as they could cut themselves, or worse, poke their eyes.

5. Breaktime, along with playtime.

Kids often sneak their food inside the playroom, making an already messy room messier, either by eating sloppily or playing with their food. According to Raising Children, messy eating is just a normal stage of children's development.

6. Polishing their nails.

Children are sponges, and we can't hear enough of this phrase. They are curious and observant, so don't be surprised if they access your manicure and pedicure kits and try to do their nails, well, because they want to be like mommy. The upside-they get to explore their creativity, and the downside-many nail polish contains chemicals that can be toxic if ingested, such as formaldehyde, toluene, and phthalates.

7. Messy pillow fight

Children love messy pillow fights. The problem is they could get hurt, or the pillows become the victims as they get ripped off, causing their innards, er, fillings to spill all over the bedroom.

8. Marking younger siblings with lipstick.

Older sisters find it fun kissing their younger siblings and leaving a lipstick mark, leaving them bawling. Parents should be happy that it's their younger siblings they are kissing and not some other boys. But, then again, it is another thing if it is their mother's lipstick that they're using.

9. Messy toys due to a child who wanted to try almost every game

When parents tell their kids "no," it activates something in them. So, when they're told to play with just one toy, they quietly play with everything, sometimes even things that are not toys, and make a mess of everything.

10. Recreating what they see.

Again, children are sponges; what they see, they follow. Spiderwebs are particularly interesting for kids, not spiders, though. According to the National History Museum, spiders build webs to trap other insects. Kids find this fascinating, so they make their own spider webs.
