A Utah mom's bittersweet moment has surprisingly turned into a viral post for parents across the internet.
Karalynne Call was preparing her son to move out of their family home earlier this week. It was the third child the mom of six had packed out in a 10-day span. Call, whose children range in age from 8 to 23, said that with three kids leaving the house in 10 days, she found herself reflecting a lot lately on the things she wants her kids to know as they each prepare for this next step.
The CEO of "Just Ingredients" said that as she was recalling memories and her favorite family moments, she thought to herself that she can't be the only one who thinks about the lessons they have left with their children.
Call lists what she hopes her kids know about health
The certified nutritionist, who has a community of more than 800,000 followers on Instagram, took that moment of inspiration to share a quick post on the social media platform, detailing what she hopes her children know about health when they leave home.
In the list that Call shared, she wanted her kids to eat fruits and vegetables daily, to filter their water, to buy processed foods made from whole ingredients, and to move their body and prioritize sleep.
She also wanted her kids to take care of their health. She said that true health encompasses spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental health. She wanted her children to figure out the root cause when battling a health issue as their health is priceless. She said they can strengthen and support their immune system. She then advised her kids to love others, love themselves and be kind.
Call told TODAY Parents she never anticipated her post would resonate with so many parents. She said that one of the goals of her Instagram page is to inspire people to make healthier life choices with simple product swaps in their daily life. She added that while she dedicates so much time in educating people across the world, she has also made it a priority to teach those same lessons in their family.
Call's post goes viral on Instagram
The post has gone viral, amassing over 48,000 likes and more than 700 comments from moms and dads around the world. Call said that outside of health, she hopes her kids always know they have a place under her roof. That holds true wherever her children are in their lives, however old they are, or wherever they are in the world.
She added that as hard as life gets, there is always something comforting about going back to a place where you are loved unconditionally. She wanted her children to know that they will always have that place in their old home.
Call said that for fellow parents facing a similar empty nest, the best advice that she can give them is to trust that they have set their kids up for success.
