Here are some new updates on the second season of "The Flash." Fans of the masked speedster will be delighted to know that, according to Entertainment Weekly, Team Flash will don a new look.
Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg sat down with the news outlet to spill some juicy details regarding the show, which airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
Kreisberg started the interview by divulging where the new season will start off. It can be remembered that last season, Barry decided to time travel in an effort to stop the Reverse Flash from going back to his own time. However, the time machine was destroyed, which made Eobard furious and determined to slay Barry and those he love. Eddie, became a surprise hero when he shot himself "to erase his descendants from the timeline," per another Entertainment Weekly article.
However, Kreisberg said that "The Flash" season 2 will not pick up where the previous season ended. "We’re playing with time a little bit, but hopefully in a fun, cool way. You’ll definitely get all the answers to the questions you have from the end of the year — what happens to Central City? How does the Flash stop the singularity from destroying it?"
Regarding the show's theme, the producer divulged that one of the major themes that will be explored this season is the idea of Flash as a “public figure." This will be a new experience for the superhero and will show how Barry will deal with the public's perception.
Kreisberg also talked about the concept of Earth-Two and how it was different from time travel, which was used in season one. He said that time travel was a very tricky concept to pull off, and they worked hard to make it digestible for the audience while preserving its complexity. As for Earth-Two, Kreisberg revealed that they would be doing the same.
"We’re trying to do the same thing this year with Earth-Two and the concept of the multiverse, and the concept of doppelgängers. We’ve been having a lot of fun with that and getting glimpses of Earth-Two probably sooner than people would’ve thought. It’s still Flash. It’s still the same show. It still has those characters and that camaraderie, but our villains are coming from a brand new place, and we’re dealing with different concepts, and it’s just really exciting," he explained.
"The Flash" season 2 will also see some crossover episodes that lead into "Legends." Kreisberg said that they have put a lot of effort to ensuring that this year's crossovers will boost fans' excitement, by making it "bigger and even bolder." During these crossovers, viewers will get to see the Hawkman mythology as well as Kendra.
