Kate Hudson admitted that she misses her oldest child as he was away for his first year of college. At a recent guesting with Access Hollywood, Kate Hudson shared how she's been feeling now that her 18-year-old son Ryder has left home for college and was honest to admit that she sometimes starts shedding tears, People reported.

"It's hard to even talk about. I'll have a moment where I'll just start crying because something will just hit me that he's not here. But he's having a blast; he's in the city, he's like ready. And that makes me so excited. I'm so excited for his future. When you see your kids thriving and feeling good in their skin that's all I can ask for," the 43-year-old "Bride Wars" star expressed.

She recalled an emotional moment she had with Ryder in a recent phone conversation. She said she just suddenly wept, overwhelmed by the thought that her son was in such a good place right now where everything in front of him was possible like she was at age. Her youngest daughter witnessed that moment and called her tears "happy tears."

Her parenting style

Also the founder of Fabletics Activewear, Hudson is a mother to three children - Ryder, her eldest who she shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson; second son Bingham or Bing, 11, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy; and daughter and youngest Rani Rose, turning four next month, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa.

If she misses Ryder, she would not have a chance to miss the youngest as they were always together. According to Hello Magazine, Rani Rose loves to tag along with her mother in everything she does. And, by everything also means tagging along in a party.

Hudson narrated in her Instagram story how little Rani would not want to go to sleep and allow her mother to go off to a party. The actress then had no choice and let Rani go with her to an adult party featuring jewelry. When they got home, and it was time for bedtime, Rani "wailed" that she did not want to ever miss a party.

Hudson detailed her parenting approach, writing that she validated and affirmed her youngest daughter's feelings because she deeply understands her. She confessed that a family that parties together will keep on partying together. But, she also admitted that there was nervousness thinking of what her daughter's teenage years might be like.

On co-parenting

While the actress has a close relationship with her children, she grew up not knowing her father, musician and actor Bill Hudson. She and her brother were raised by their mother, Goldie Hawn, and longtime partner Kurt Rusell.

Yet, despite this, she has a great family, a beautiful mother, and an amazing stepfather who stepped in and played a huge part for them to feel what it is to have a "dependable father figure" in their lives.

This, though, did not remove the fact that they did not know their dad, she told Today. And with this, she has learned the importance of co-parenting, of having her children know their fathers, even if they each have different ones.
